You're left asking yourself, "Why is my dab rig not hitting?"
First things first, you should question the quality of the dab rig you're using — unless it's from MJ Arsenal's collection of fine-quality glass dab rigs. On the other hand, if you consider your dab rig up-to-spec, there could be several reasons it isn't serving you decent hits. Of course, that also means there are many solutions to consider.
To help you deal with this issue, below is a guide that lays out the different parts of a dab rig to check, a list of reasons why your rig isn't hitting, as well as a series of tips on how to improve your rig for improved hits.
Before going into the issues your dab rig may have when it doesn't hit properly, it's a good idea to break down the different parts of a dab rig. This can help you figure out why you're getting poor hits, as a small problem in one part can really affect how the rest of your dab rig functions. Here are the key components of a dab rig:
The mouthpiece is where you place your lips to inhale vapor. It is usually at the top of the rig above the water chamber. Many brands, including MJ Arsenal, have an angled mouth to make it easier for you to reach down and pull a hit from whatever position you're in.
The water chamber, similar to those in water pipe bongs, is where the vapors from your heated concentrate are filtered and cooled. The water you store in it helps reduce the smoke to an optimal temperature for inhalation, making your pull easier and smoother to draw in.
An essential piece of your dab rig is the dab nail — also called a banger. This is the part of the rig that attaches to your rig's downstem, which connects to the chamber.
After heating it up to the right temperature, you place your dab hit at the very top of the banger, where there is a small bowl.
Placing concentrate inside it while heated will cause it to vaporize so the smoke can be filtered through the chamber up to the mouthpiece.
Some dab rigs have a dome that fits over the dab nail to help trap the vapor and direct it into the rig's water chamber. Others use a carb cap placed over the nail to control airflow and create a low-pressure environment for better vaporization.
As mentioned before, the downstem connects the dab nail to the water chamber. It may come in various shapes and sizes, and it's where the vapor travels after being produced by the heated dab nail.
Now that we've covered what parts of your dab rig to check let's discuss reasons your dab rig isn't hitting. The two overall reasons are issues with how you use your dab rig and maintain it between sessions. These heavily affect any smoke experience, so be sure to consider them whenever any issues arise with your dab rigs.
That being said, here are some of the more specific reasons why you're drawing poor hits from your dab rig:
One reason you might be getting poor hits from your dab rig is that you are using too much concentration. This can produce a harsh smoke that ends with you having a coughing fit after inhaling it.
It can be a common issue with newbie dabbers and longtime enthusiasts alike, as different dabs can have different concentrations. In this case, use a dab tool to add small hits to your nail.
Another similar reason you may not be getting the best hit from your dab rig is that you're using too little concentrates. Heating your banger to red-hot temperatures will burn rather than vaporize a dab that is too small. This results in a pull that barely has any smoke for you to inhale.
One dabbing session after the next can leave a layer of sticky resin and residue, along with dust and other contaminants, if you don't regularly clean it. This can block airflow and make it difficult to get a proper hit the more you use your dab rig.
A super hot nail is another potential reason why you are regularly getting poor hits. Even with a huge amount of concentrates in your banger, a too-hot nail will immediately burn it away, evaporating it so hardly any of the vapors reach your chamber.
On the other hand, a nail that remains at low temperatures is also a reason you'll produce poor hits. Low temp means your dabs won't vaporize as much as you'd want, leaving you with a lackluster hit.
As said in the previous sections, different temperatures can lead to poor hits. So, how do you make sure your dabs are burned at the perfect temperature? Use a carb cap as well. This will regulate airflow and temperature, ensuring your dabs are heated evenly at just the right temperature.
Of course, many more problems result in poor hits from a dab rig, but the list above provides a decent checklist of issues you should first look for. Furthermore, improving how you use your dab rig can also ensure better quality hits, no matter the case.
Simple changes can turn a poor dabbing experience into a great one — after all, dabbing really comes down to experimenting with differences in your concentrates, heating methods, and maintenance. Below are a few tips and tricks to making sure your dab rig serves the best hits in all your future dabbing sessions:
Follow the essential tips above consistently, and you'll find hits in your next session to be significantly improved. Of course, the biggest improvement you can make is using a high-quality dab rig from MJ Arsenal, which is designed to offer style and performance for dabbing newcomers and aficionados alike.

]]>Using a dirty glass bubbler can really dampen the experience. We've all faced that moment, but settling for a subpar session due to an uncleaned bubbler is unnecessary. This guide is made to help you out. It's packed with step-by-step instructions to get your bubbler sparkling clean and ready to enjoy.
You'll learn how to safely use household items like salt and isopropyl alcohol for cleaning and even pick up a few tips on maintaining your favorite bubbler pipe's longevity.
Ready to transform your bubbler from grimy to gleaming? Let's get started.
The importance of a clean glass bubbler isn't just about aesthetics but also about the overall performance and safety of your smoking device. Knowing how to clean your glass bubbler is vital.
Over time, your glass bubbler may develop unsightly mineral deposits and residue that can alter the taste of your smoke and potentially harm your lungs. That's why you should clean your bubbler regularly. Using the right cleaning solution, like isopropyl alcohol or vinegar, can effectively dissolve these deposits.
The process is simple but requires methodical care to ensure every part is clean. Therefore, maintaining a clean bubbler isn't only about preserving its good looks but also ensuring an optimal, safe smoking experience.
You'll need both isopropyl alcohol and coarse salt for cleaning your bubbler. Isopropyl alcohol is a powerful solvent to dissolve resin build-up, while coarse salt acts as a gentle abrasive to scrub away stubborn grime. If you're out of alcohol, a mixture of vinegar and baking soda can be a good substitute. You could also opt for a cleaning solution, such as the MJ Arsenal 420 Cleaner or 710 Cleaner.
Don't forget to grab a pipe cleaner or Glob Mop and some paper towels as well. Pipe cleaners are indispensable for reaching into the narrow stems of glass pipes, and cotton swabs are perfect for cleaning out the bowl.
Just remember, the cleaner your bubbler, the smoother your smoking experience — it's an investment in the longevity and performance of your bubbler.
Isopropyl alcohol serves as a potent solvent that dissolves resin build-up but also kills nearly all bacteria and viruses it comes into contact with. That's why it's crucial for cleaning your glass bubbler.
You'll start by preparing an isopropyl alcohol solution. Mix the alcohol and salt in a zip-top bag or bowl. The salt is a gentle abrasive, aiding the alcohol as it cleans your bubbler. For an easier experience, you can simply prepare your MJ Arsenal cleaner.
Next, you'll immerse your pipe carefully in the alcohol-salt solution. Remember, it's not just about soaking — give it a good shake to ensure the solution touches every bit of resin.
Using coarse salt for scrubbing your bubbler enhances the cleaning process. It's great for breaking down stubborn resin build-up. The salt flakes, particularly raw sea salt, act as mini scrubbers, reaching into the crevices of your glass water pipe that a pipe cleaner might miss. You can also use kosher salt, coarse-grained salt, or even rock salt to get different scrubbing capabilities.
When combined with isopropyl alcohol, using salt for scrubbing intensifies its effectiveness. The salt grains won't dissolve, providing a gritty texture that scrubs away at the resin.
You can also consider a baking soda solution, which offers the same scrubbing action but with a softer touch.
Before diving into the cleaning process, it's crucial that you prepare your bubbler by disassembling it and rinsing it with warm water, ideally about 30 minutes before scrubbing. This pre-cleaning phase is key to maintaining your bubbler pipe's longevity.
Follow these steps:
When preparing your bubbler for cleaning, patience is vital. Allowing the glass bong to sit in a vinegar solution can be beneficial. Make sure it's completely submerged to maximize the cleaning process.
You'll need a clear understanding of how to clean a glass bubbler. Follow the step-by-step cleaning process to ensure your bubbler remains in top-notch condition.
There's a lot of debate on how long you should soak your bubbler, but a good rule of thumb is at least a couple of hours for optimal results. The soaking process is crucial in dissolving the stubborn resin that clings to the inner surfaces. However, don't rush it; patience here is key.
With the aid of flexible pipe cleaners, you're able to scrub away any stubborn residue from hard-to-reach areas in your bubbler, such as the bubbler pipe. Don't forget the stem and bowl. These are areas that often accumulate the most residue.
Dip the pipe cleaner in isopropyl alcohol for a thorough clean. It's important to pay close attention to these tricky spots, ensuring all buildup is removed. For persistent gunk, let the alcohol-soaked pipe cleaner sit in the area for a few minutes before scrubbing again.
After giving your bubbler a good scrub, it's time to focus on the final stages of the cleaning process. Remember, patience is vital in achieving a thoroughly clean piece.
You'll need to inspect your bubbler closely for any leftover residue before you can say you know how to clean a bubbler properly. This step is essential for ensuring that your bubbler is thoroughly clean and safe to use.
Use a flashlight to get a good look inside the chamber and stem. If you see any spots or stains, that's a sign that you've got more cleaning to do.
Cotton swabs soaked in isopropyl alcohol or an alcohol-salt solution work great for spot cleaning, or you can use our Terp Wipes and Slurper Mops. Repeat the process until you're confident that there's no residue left.
It's a bit of extra work, but it's worth it for the clean, smooth smoking experience that awaits you. Remember, a clean bubbler isn't just a matter of taste — it's a matter of health.
Make this inspection a regular part of your cleaning routine, and you'll never regret it.
Before you light up next time, remember to clean your bubbler regularly, and it'll surely enhance your smoking experience. Keeping your bubbler clean not only assures a great smoking session but also prolongs the life of your device. Here are three simple tips for regular maintenance:
For optimal performance and flavor, it's advised that you clean your bubbler at least once a week, depending on usage.
If you're a daily smoker, weekly cleaning is necessary to prevent resin and bacterial growth build-up. However, if you use your bubbler less frequently, cleaning after each use is recommended.
This practice ensures that your bubbler is always fresh and ready for your next session. Remember, leaving water in the bubbler for extended periods can encourage mold growth, so it's best to empty it after each use.
If you're using your bubbler with friends, consider giving it a quick clean between uses to avoid sharing germs. With regular cleaning, you'll maintain the integrity of your bubbler and enhance your overall smoking experience.
Surprisingly, regular cleaning isn't just about hygiene, it's also the key to preserving the longevity of your bubbler. You see, neglecting this essential task can lead to resin build-up, which isn't only unsightly but can also degrade the quality of the glass over time.
Here are three key steps to remember:
You'll notice five major differences when you're enjoying the benefits of a clean bubbler:
Keeping your glass bubbler clean isn't just essential for optimal performance but for your health, too.
Imagine the satisfaction and peace of mind you'll feel, knowing you're inhaling from a spotless device rather than one caked in grime and residue.
Remember, a little maintenance goes a long way in sustaining your bubbler's lifespan and ensuring a smooth, clean smoke every time.

With a bubbler from MJA, you’ll want to make cleaning and caring for it a regular part of your smoking ritual.
If you've broken a piece of your bubbler, don't panic. Carefully collect the fragments, see if it's a clean break, and consider using glass-safe epoxy for repair if possible.
You can use flavored cleaning solutions, but remember, they're meant to clean, not flavor your glass bubbler. They might leave an unwanted residual taste. It's best to clean with non-flavored solutions for a pure smoke.
Yes, professional cleaning services for glass bubblers do exist. However, with a bit of elbow grease and the right materials, you can efficiently clean your bubbler at home, saving time and money.
You shouldn't clean your bubbler in the dishwasher. The heat and harsh detergents can damage it. Instead, clean it by hand using isopropyl alcohol and salt for a safe, effective clean that won't harm your piece.
To eliminate the strong smell of isopropyl alcohol post-cleaning, rinse your bubbler thoroughly with warm water. If the smell persists, soak it in a mixture of warm water and lemon juice, then rinse again.
]]>Ever found yourself at a party, bong in hand, puzzled by the mention of a 'banger'? Don't fret, you're not alone.
A banger, in the context of a bong, is as crucial as the engine to a car.
This guide will enlighten you about what a banger is, its functions, varieties, and how to use it.
First tip: they're not actually made for bongs. They're for dab rigs—but you can still smoke out of one with a water pipe, if the connection fits.
Get ready to elevate your bong experience and become the life of the party.
A banger's essentially the part of a bong where you'd place your concentrates before heating them up. It's like the heart of your bong, the epicenter of all the action. The dance floor where your concentrate breaks down and transforms into the smooth, potent vapor you're after. It's usually made of quartz, ceramic, or titanium, each with their unique pros and cons.
Quartz bangers are the choice of many for their ability to heat up quickly and provide a clean taste. They're also resilient, making them a favorite among seasoned stoners. Ceramic bangers, on the other hand, take a bit longer to heat up, but they retain heat longer, perfect for those extended sessions. Titanium banger nails are virtually indestructible and heat up the fastest, although they might alter the taste of your concentrate a tad.
Choosing the right banger for your bong comes down to personal preference. Whether you're a casual user or a concentrate connoisseur, there's a banger out there that'll perfectly complement your bong and enhance your smoking experience. So, consider your options well and choose wisely. Because a good bong deserves a great banger.
In your smoking device, the piece that you heat up to vaporize your concentrate is crucial for a smooth and effective experience. This critical part, my friend, is known as a banger, and it's not just a fancy term in the cannabis culture. Understanding its function can significantly enhance your smoking sessions.
The banger, usually made of quartz, sits on the joint of your bong. It's here that you heat it using a torch until it's your perfected desired temperature. Then, you place your cannabis concentrate into the banger, where it immediately turns into vapor. The design of the banger ensures that the vapor travels through the water in your bong, cooling it down before you inhale it. This process provides a smoother and more pleasant smoking experience.
Moreover, there are different types of bangers, each with their unique features. Flat top bangers, for instance, offer a larger surface area for your concentrates, while thermal bangers have a double-wall design to retain heat longer.
So next time you're prepping your bong, pay attention to your banger. It's not just a piece of your smoking device, it's the heart of your dabbing experience.
You're curious about bangers, aren't you?
Well, let's dive into the different types that you can use to customize your smoking experience.
Whether you're after the clean, smooth hits from a Quartz Banger, the long-lasting heat retention of a Ceramic Banger, or the durability and strength of a Titanium Banger, understanding the distinctions can help you navigate the smoky world of bongs better.
Quartz bangers are often the go-to choice when you need a durable and heat-resistant part for your bong. Quartz, a material that stands up well to high temperatures necessary for vaporizing herbal concentrates, is excellent at retaining heat, making it perfect for lengthy sessions.
Here's why you should consider quartz bangers:
Quartz bangers are a reliable and efficient choice for your bong, whether you're a seasoned smoker or a beginner. They provide a smooth, clean taste that truly enhances the flavors of your chosen strains. So, take a hit from a quartz banger and experience the difference.
If you're after a smoking experience with no metallic taste, ceramic attachments might just be your next best friend. Ceramic bangers for your bong offer a pure flavor profile, bringing out the unique notes in your herb or concentrate. Unlike quartz or titanium, ceramic retains heat for longer periods, providing a more relaxed session without the need for constant reheating.
But there's a bit of a learning curve. You'll need to heat your ceramic banger slowly to prevent cracking. And remember, these bad boys take a little longer to cool down, so patience is key. The plus side? Your hits will be smoother and the flavor, phenomenal.
So, if you're a flavor chaser, glass or electric nails might just be the perfect fit for you. Enjoy the experience, mate!
Switching to a titanium attachment can elevate your smoking experience to new heights. Titanium bangers are a popular choice among the cannabis community for their durability and heat retention.
Here are three reasons why you might want to consider a titanium banger for your bong:
Remember, the type of banger you choose can greatly affect your smoking experience. So, choose wisely, and happy smoking!
So, you've got your banger, but do you know the ins and outs of using it properly?
From understanding how to handle it without risking any damage, to the nitty-gritty of keeping it clean and well-maintained, there's more to using a banger than meets the eye.
Let's dive into the nuances of this essential piece of your bong setup, ensuring you get the most out of your sessions and your banger lasts for many more.
Proper handling of a banger for a bong is essential as it's a delicate piece that can easily break if mishandled. Remember, it's not just a device, but a critical part of your smoking experience.
Always hold your banger by the joint, never the bucket, to avoid damage from excessive heat. Cleaning is also crucial. While it's still warm, not hot, wipe the inside with a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol. This will help maintain its clarity and longevity.
Lastly, heat your banger evenly. Use your torch in a sweeping motion across the bottom, not concentrating on one spot. This prevents 'hot spots' that could lead to cracking. Treat your banger with respect and it'll reward you with smooth, flavorful hits. It's not just science, it's stoner etiquette.
Moving on from handling your bong and its banger, let's delve into the nitty-gritty of keeping it clean.
Proper maintenance of your bong's banger is crucial to ensure a smooth and flavorful hit every single time. Over time, residue buildup can interfere with your bong's performance and even alter the taste. It's crucial to clean your banger after each use.
Simply use a cotton swab and some isopropyl alcohol to gently wipe out any leftover residue. Occasionally, you might want to give your banger a deep clean. This involves soaking it in a solution of isopropyl alcohol and salt, then giving it a good scrub.
Remember, your bong's banger needs as much TLC as the rest of your kit. Keep it clean, and it'll reward you with top-notch hits.
Using a banger in a bong has several advantages. It's a fantastic upgrade to your bong setup, enhancing functionality and adding sophistication to your smoking sessions.
Here are four key advantages you'll enjoy when using a bong banger:
So, consider adding a banger to your bong. It can revolutionize your smoking sessions, providing a more efficient, cleaner, and flavorful experience. You'll wonder how you ever enjoyed your bong without one.
Bangers, mate, are typically crafted from quartz, ceramic, or titanium. Quartz is loved for its superior heat retention, while ceramic offers pure flavors. Titanium? It's popular for durability. Each offers a unique sesh experience.
Imagine you're puffing away daily. Your banger's looking grimy, isn't it? In general, heavy users should replace their banger every month or so. Lighter users can stretch it to around three months. Keep it clean, buddy!
Absolutely, you can use a banger in any type of bong. Just ensure it matches the joint size and gender of your piece. They're perfect for dabbing, turning your bong into a versatile smoking device.
Imagine your banger's as gunky as a teenager's room. Don't stress! Soak it in isopropyl alcohol, scrub gently with a Q-tip, rinse thoroughly. Repeat if needed. It's a labor of love that'll keep your banger sparkly clean.
Absolutely, mate! Always heat your banger evenly to prevent stress fractures. Don't overheat it or you'll risk inhaling harmful fumes. Remember, the cooler the banger, the better the flavor of your herb. Safety first!
So, you've journeyed through the world of bangers, those groovy little game-changers for your bong. You've discovered their purpose, the different types, and how to use them.
Like a vinyl record in a digital age, they add a unique touch to your sesh. MJ Arsenal Bangers truly elevate your bong experience, adding both flavor and function.

]]>Introducing our favorite new summer pastime – 7/10, also known as National Dab Day.
Over the past few decades, herb oils and concentrate products have taken the world by storm. With seasoned smokers and first-timers alike reaching for dabs as their method of choice, it's no surprise a celebration broke loose.
So, if you want to observe dab day the right way, keep reading to learn more about July 10th. For those looking to ring in 7/10 in style and treat themselves to a well-deserved holiday high, stock up on high-quality, hand-blown glass dab rigs from MJ Arsenal.
Though the origin of National Dab Day is unknown, the tradition began just a decade ago when consuming extracts worked its way into the mainstream.
Nowadays, dabbing is a staple for most people who partake. Whether it's a handheld vape, a quality dab rig, or a live-resin cart, flower culture has accepted dabbing with open arms (and lungs).
In fact, many flower enthusiasts have started swapping out their dry pipes for dab rigs, giving them more bang for their buck with highly-concentrated oils.
Though each method has its perks, venturing outside of traditional flower products and into easy-to-use concentrates is a great way for a seasoned smoker to break out of their slump. Though dry methods will surely always have a place in smoker’s hearts, there's no harm in celebrating a new form of consumption with National Dab Day.
Unlike 4/20, whose date has a murky backstory, the significance behind 7/10 is right in front of your eyes. Just turn 710 upside down and with a little imagination, you have the word OIL spelled out.
What started as a joke within the community quickly transformed into a widespread holiday for anyone to celebrate.
If you're unfamiliar with concentrates, you may be wondering what the hype around dabbing is. After all, why worry about extra equipment and methods when you can simply light up a classic joint and be on your way?
Though there's nothing wrong with sticking to flower, dabbing—in its many forms—allows for smoother hits and higher highs than other dry options on the market.
Between shatter, oil, live resin, and wax, the options are endless, allowing you to mix and match concentrates with different rigs or vapes until you find the perfect match. Essentially, using oils opens up new doors, allowing you to customize your consumption experience with fun rigs, vapes, and concentrates.
If you're still on the fence about dabbing, try hitting up local dispensaries and asking the bud-tenders for their favorites. Chances are, they can introduce you to new strains and methods to take your sessions to the next level.
Though dabbing is often the norm in today's culture, its rise in mainstream popularity is recent. However, that doesn't mean 7/10-friendly oils weren’t around before the art of dabbing.
In fact, botanical use of the cannabis plant dates back nearly 5000 years. However, it wasn't until the 1940s that concentrates came onto the scene. By the 1970s, dabbing was well-known in the culture and only continued in popularity as time went on.
As legalization spreads, so does the number of goods on the market. Long gone are the days of limited options, as sprouting dispensaries offer consumers a wide world of new methods—including hash oil.
Oils are versatile, making them a fan favorite across the board. For example, medical flower users often lean on concentrates for its ease, while session smokers light up waxes for heavy hits and highs.
Whether it's an oil dropper, an inconspicuous vape, an MJA Rig, or a topical rub, you can enjoy these oils your way.
Though you don't need to wait around for an herb-related holiday to partake in the perfect session, consider hopping on the 7/10 train (and detouring for a pit stop at 7/11 to stock up on your go-to midnight-munchies snacks). Between dispensaries offering hot deals on flower products and local groups hosting celebrations, you're in for a treat this 710 day.
If you're unsure about where to find local hang-out spots or day-of deals, consider hopping on online forums where you can find updates on all things green.
You can even join in the fun before the festivities begin by browsing MJA's selection of hand-crafted dab rigs. That way, when 710 day finally arrives, you'll be locked and loaded, ready to take your new rig out for a spin.
If you're a first-timer looking to celebrate dab day the right way, it may be smart to try a small amount initially. Many inexperienced dabbers underestimate the power of potent concentrates, leaving them in a greened-out state until the high settles.
To make sure your holiday goes as planned, practice with your dab rig beforehand so you know what you're in for on oil day. Though easier than it looks, lighting up a dab rig does take some practice to feel comfortable.
Or, if you're not up for the full shebang, you can always try an oil vape on for size to get the smoking experience without breaking out a full dab rig setup.
Though it’s fun to take part in a collective holiday with people who wind down the same way you do, you can keep the fun going after 7/10 has passed.
After all, you don’t need National Dab Day to break out your MJA rig and light up.
Part of the fun in partaking is learning about new methods and trying on new rigs for size. You can learn more about dabbing on the MJA blog and hit up our shop for a brand-new piece ready to blaze on 7/10 and beyond.
]]>When enjoying herb in its most potent and flavorful form, there’s no better option than using a dab rig. The honey-like concentrate required for this method is loaded with highly-condensed concentrates, so every smoking session is just as satisfying as the last.
Still, you might ask: “Why should I try dabbing?”
For one, dabbing is the most potent and flavorful herbal consumption method. Dabbing also requires a dab rig which uses water to filter and cool smoke. For those just dipping their toes into the world of dab rigs, it’s easy to get flustered: After all, there’s a lot to learn, from understanding the many parts of a rig and choosing between countless styles.
Luckily, we’re here to help. This guide covers everything from basic anatomy to dab rig categories. We’ll even list a few accessories that bring your smoking experience to the next level -- so let’s get started.
Dabbing is a method used to consume concentrate through vaporization. First and foremost, you’ll need a dab rig. A dab rig (also called an oil rig, a wax rig, or a concentrate rig) is a unique device that allows users to smoke dense concentrates via water vapor.
Aside from the dab rig, you’ll also need a heating element (like a torch) and a few tools to dab correctly. Many prefer this method because the overall smoking experience is flavorful and easy on your throat. Dab vapor is also much more potent than burning flower, so you won’t have to light up as much.
While some features of a bong and a dab rig are similar, they are two very different tools. Bongs can only be used with dried herb, while dab rigs are made to sustain high temperatures and vaporize concentrates.
A dab rig and a vape involve two entirely different substances:
Although you can technically dab using oil, it’s not advisable. Oil has a much lower melting point and cannot withstand high temperatures. Some oils might also have additives that add viscosity and thicker clouds. Dabbing these kinds of additives will likely have an odd flavor and result in a rough cough.
Dabs are a concentrated form of smokeable. The substance is made using a solvent to extract essential oils from plants. Factors like heat, pressure, and solvent type will determine what kind of dab is created. You can identify variations of wax by color, texture, and consistency.
Also called badder or batter, budder is a dough-like type of wax. Budder is typically gold and has a gooey texture.
Shatter has the consistency of broken glass and is deep amber. The concentrate is highly potent, making it one of the most popular concentrate types.
Crumble is drier than other dab types, making it easy to crack apart. This type of concentrate is also called honeycomb because of its coloring and breakability.
Live resin has a sauce-like texture and is easy to dose, but it’s also usually the most expensive and potent dab variant. It is extracted from frozen hemp plants rather than dry herb, whose process retains terpenes that are otherwise lost.
The process of making hash rosin involves taking a small amount of plant matter and placing it inside a heat press, which applies pressure and heat to the material. This causes the trichomes, which contain the majority of the plant's terpenes, to break off from the plant matter and become a sticky, resinous substance.
With a better understanding of dabbing, it’s time to see the dab rig work its magic. Follow these six steps, and with some practice, you’ll be a pro in no time.
Make sure the rig is filled with water because you don’t want your first dab to be dry while scorching.
Pour water into the chamber until the downstem is submerged.
Set up your smoking area with the dab rig in a secure spot, and then load a dose of wax onto your nail, ensuring it’s easy to grab.
Using a torch lighter, heat your quartz nail until it glows red. You can take a high-temperature or a low-temperature dab, depending on your preference.
Dabbing at a high temperature creates thick clouds of vapor. The milky smoke is potent but can also be harsh on the throat and lungs if you’re not a seasoned smoker.
High-temp dabs range between 400°F to 800°F. However, higher temperatures tend to burn concentrate and the terpenes within. The proper temperature for a high-temp hit is between 450°F to 600°F.
Low-temperature dabs occur between 300°F to 450°F. Most smokers prefer the lower temperature because it balances flavor and potency.
Dabbing at a lower temperature is also much easier on the throat. One drawback is that low-temp dabs produce more residue inside your glass piece.
Once the dab pipe has been heated to your liking, let the nail cool down. This step might seem contradictory, but a red-hot nail will simply burn the wax. Wait about 30 to 60 seconds before adding concentrate. (It’s helpful to keep track in your head, so you’ll know the target number for your next session.)
Using a dab tool or a dab wand, place wax onto the hot banger and swirl around the surface area. Place your lips on the mouthpiece and take a slow inhale to kickstart the vaporization.
If using a carb cap, now is when you’ll cap the banger. The lid will trap heat and pressure inside the bucket piece. Place your finger on the top air-controlling hole and swirl the bubble cap with your hands. Be careful not to come in contact with the heated nail.
Once you’ve inhaled your desired dose of the dab, slowly exhale. If you take a large dab, you can return for another hit without reheating the nail. Repeat as necessary.
A good dab rig owner understands the importance of upkeep, so make sure your equipment is in the best shape by regularly sanitizing your rig.
To properly clean the piece, you’ll need a few supplies: To start, rubbing alcohol is your best friend, along with a cotton swab or two. Invest in an ISO station if you want to step up your game and make the process even easier. This holster keeps all your cleaning solutions in one easy-to-access spot.
To start, wipe the inside of the banger or nail to remove leftover oil. Then, pour isopropyl alcohol into the chamber of your rig and let soak for a few hours. Once the piece is free of sticky substances, rinse and let air dry.
Quick Tip: Ensure the rubbing alcohol is thoroughly rinsed before using it again because the substance is flammable.
Now that you understand the process of dabbing, it’s time to cover the basic anatomy of a dab rig. Oil rigs consist of three main parts. The mouthpiece and stem are similar to that of a water pipe. The main chamber at the bottom is filled with water to filter vapor. Finally, the most crucial piece of dab rigs is the dab nail.
Dab nails or bangers are attached to the joint of an oil rig. This bucket-style piece is where the concentrate is placed and vaporized. Nails and bangers must be durable and heat-resistant, as they are heated to extreme temperatures using a blow torch or butane torch. Bangers and nails are made of different materials, each of which has its own pros and cons.
Quartz bangers are well-loved within the dabbing community because of their reliable convective heating and resistance to very high temperatures, making them ideal for high-temperature dabs. Quartz is also a flexible material, making it easy to shape into unique shapes.
The downside to quartz is that they lose heat quickly, so you’ll have to reheat your quartz banger between sessions. Although, some dabbers might find this a bonus as you can touch the banger sooner without the risk of a burn.
Glass nails are an affordable and popular option. Still, an important thing to note is that although glass nails retain heat moderately, they’re ideal for low-temp dabs because their optimal temperature is below 350°F.
Dab rigs also have a central chamber that holds water. As smoke passes through the compartment, the vapor is cooled and filtered. The result is a smooth hit that is easy on the throat.
The most common kinds of percolators found in dabbing rigs are:
Quick Tip: High-end dab rigs tend to feature percolators. From simple-to-use to a little more complex, percolators add an extra dimension to filtration. Some rigs might feature as many as three percolators.
Dab rigs have exploded in popularity over recent years — so it’s no surprise that manufacturers and craftspeople have come out with an expansive range of designs and styles. Whether you prefer an artful handmade version or a travel-friendly style, there is bound to be a style that fits your preferences.
Mini rigs are designed for efficiency without compromising a potent dabbing experience. The smaller size allows you to take bigger rips than larger versions. Mini dab rigs also offer maximum flavor.
Another sizable advantage of owning a mini rig is they are a breeze to store and clean. Long gone are the days of soaking your water pipe only to spend hours meticulously scrubbing every nook and cranny.
With mini rigs, all you need is a solid isopropyl system and a few extra minutes. Finally, you won’t cower at the thought of cleaning day.
If you like to smoke concentrates on the go, mini rigs are an excellent option. This sturdy rig is travel-friendly and easy to store.
An electric rig, also called an e-rig, allows you to control your ideal temperature with a click of a button. E-rigs work via internal conductive heating elements, which removes the danger of a direct flame and simplifies the entire process.
But if you don’t want an e-rig, a good alternative is an electronic nail. The high-tech accessory is compatible with a typical dabbing rig.
Take MJ Arsenal’s G Pen Connect, for example. The small-yet-mighty tool has three temperature settings and can be attached to any mini rig with an effortless magnetic snap. A spring-loaded carb release button offers instant airflow, and supports back-to-back sessions with ease.
Smoking with a rig and your favorite concentrates is a recipe for an unforgettable smoke session — but if you want to take it to another level, you can add an accessory that’s stylish and enhances your whole experience.
A carb cap is a lid-shaped accessory that sits on the banger. Like the carburetor in a car, its primary function is to control airflow and pressure. Carb caps are an affordable way to enhance vaporization and bring out complex terpenes of wax.
Terp pearls are a great option to add flair and flavor to your dabbing routine. The colorful glass balls are dropped directly into your bucket banger. When in use, they spin around and around, sticking to flavorful terpenes of your wax.
Reclaim catchers are a great way to keep your rig looking like new. It catches unvaporized wax as a middle piece between the banger and rig. The leftover reclaim can be repurposed in several ways, including baking in edibles or loading back into your rig.
Dabber and Dab Mat
Our dab tool is a flat, pointed tool that is used to scoop up a small amount of concentrate and then apply it to a heated surface, such as a nail or banger. The dab tools also have a scooped or spoon-like shape, which can be used to apply larger amounts of concentrate at once.
And since dabs are messy, you’ll need a dab mat. Dab mats are typically made of silicone or rubber, and are used to protect surfaces from the heat and mess. They are placed underneath a dab rig or other dabbing equipment to prevent damage to tables or countertops, and to make it easier to clean up any spills or residue that may occur during the dabbing process.
Dab mats may also have non-slip properties to help keep dabbing equipment in place and prevent accidents. In addition to protecting surfaces, dab mats may also be used to hold dabbing tools or other small items, or to provide a designated area for dabbing.
If you’re looking for a great smoking experience and want to guarantee a flavorful dab each and every hit, then a dab rig is the way to go.

]]>But glass doesn't grow on trees—that'd be pretty weird. Instead, it forms under particular conditions over long periods. Naturally-occurring glasses like Libyan desert glass are prized for their rarity and beauty.
Because naturally-occurring glasses are relatively hard to find, we figured out how to make borosilicate glass with its own brawn (and some brainpower, too). Let's take a look at the basics of borosilicate glass blowing so you can see firsthand how MJ Arsenal dab rigs come to be.
Borosilicate glass blowing is a difficult and delicate art, but it’s been around for centuries. The first glass blowing was done in the Syro-Palestinian region using blowpipes and has since evolved into the challenging but rewarding art of modern glass blowing.
Glassblowing technology proliferated as the Romans built an expansive empire, and people began to use glass in their everyday lives. Populations across Europe, Asia, and North America relied on the glassblowing craft to fashion functional vessels as well as decorative items.
The 17th century saw a revolution in science, with the invention of microscope lenses and laboratory glassware. Because of the increased demand, glassmakers were forced to try out new additions for stronger, heat-resistant, or chemical-resistant materials that would not shatter under pressure like previous iterations.
The invention of lead glass in 1676 created a new material that was more durable than its predecessors. Mixing glass with other metals to create a type of glass that would not shatter or corrode was a breakthrough. It resulted in less risk for scientists who used flasks and beakers during experiments, as well as making it easier for them to clean after use.
German scientists and instrument makers in the 1880s worked to create a material they named "borosilicate glass." It had improved properties over other types of laboratory glasses, making it perfect for use with high-temperature or harsh chemicals. It was first branded and marketed under the name "Jena Glass," in the same way that "Pyrex" is used as a proprietary eponym for borosilicate glass today.
Today, glassblowing is still a fairly common profession despite its mass production. Not everyone is born with the natural talent of legendary glassblowers like artist Bob Snodgrass, but glass artisanship is seeing a new boom in the 21st century with the explosion of demand for reliable dabbing and smoking tools.
A lot of different materials have seen their heyday for dabbing—ceramic, silicone, and even titanium. But one material has stood the test of time and continues to lead the market—borosilicate glass.
To the layman’s eye, all glass is, well, just glass. But a craftsman knows: Not all glass is created equal. We rely on different types of glass for specific applications, and the chemistry and structure of each type vary.
For example, soda lime glass was used in windows and beverage bottles (which is probably where it got its name). It’s ideal because it’s inexpensive and easy to melt and shape. However, it also has poor durability and can’t withstand extreme temperatures very well. These limitations contributed to our expansion of glass types.
Let's look at some of the most common types of glass you'll find around your home, as well as in labs and other settings.
Naturally-occurring glass is typically only formed in meteorites or on Earth's surface, like Libyan desert glass, which looks nothing like your typical drinking glasses. Also known as tektites, naturally occurring glasses are made up of high levels of silica (SiO2).
Man-made or synthetic, glass is made when silica combines with other chemicals. The result is a substance that you can mold into various shapes and colors under the right temperatures.
Due to the chemical processes used, artificial glasses tend to be less pure than naturally occurring ones, but they're often easier to find and work with. And when it comes to glass, high purity isn't everything. Synthetic glasses can be just as beautiful and strong as naturally occurring glasses.
Borosilicate glass is one of the most common types of glass used for scientific applications. Since the late 1800s, this type of glass has been used to make scientific laboratory equipment because of its excellent thermal properties.
It has three significant benefits: it's durable, chemically resistant, and thermally shock-resistant. It can be used to make flasks, boiling tubes, condensers, and many other pieces of lab equipment for which soda-lime glass is unsuitable.
Borosilicate glass is also less brittle than traditional soda-lime glass, which means that broken pieces are more likely to stay in one piece rather than shatter into tiny shards of sharp debris.
Today this glass is still widely used to create high-quality laboratory test tubes and other tools for laboratories, research universities, and chemical manufacturing.
And if it's good enough for the lab, it's good enough for a dab.
Borosilicate glassware is the gold standard for dab rigs because of its strength and thermal shock resistance. This durable glass is resistant to rapid temperature changes, so it can take the abuse of repeated heating without cracking or breaking. It’s also a prime choice for creating visually mind-blowing dab rig collections.
Unfortunately, many glass blowers still use less expensive soda-lime glass, which is the same type of glass that drinking and cooking containers are made out of. It has a low melting point and shatters easily when heated or cooled rapidly. It simply won't last as long as high-quality borosilicate glass when used for dabbing.
Soda-lime is a soft glass that's typically used for everyday household items, such as jars, drinking glasses, ovenware, or even shower doors. It can also be used to make less expensive laboratory glassware that's not subject to the same degree of thermal stress as borosilicate glass products.
This glass is made by melting sand together with soda ash (sodium carbonate) and limestone (calcium carbonate). It has a very low melting point, making it easy to manipulate. It can be formed into any shape or size, which makes it inexpensive and popular for use in the home.
However, soda-lime glass doesn't make for very good dabware.
Though it’s inexpensive, soda-lime glassware is low in quality. That means it can be weakened or even destroyed when heated too quickly or cooled too rapidly. This type of glass won’t typically hold up during the repeated heating and cooling cycles that are necessary for dabbing. In fact, this lack of thermal shock resistance is the most common reason that cheap glassware breaks—besides just physical impact.
High-quality borosilicate glass, on the other hand, has excellent thermal properties. It's more durable and resistant to impact than soda-lime glass, so it can stand up to being heated and cooled repeatedly without cracking or breaking.
Quartz is a naturally occurring substance, but quartz glass is man-made from quartz dust and sand. Quartz glass is nearly pure silica—95% or more—but this formulation makes it difficult to work with and very expensive to manufacture.
Because it's so expensive, quartz glass is only used when durability and clarity are critical. You’ll find it in high-end optics in microscopes, telescopes, watches, and even aerospace manufacturing.
And at MJ Arsenal, we also use it to mold our premium quartz bangers and buckets. Its extreme heat retention makes it ideal for dabbing, and quartz is naturally resistant to heat degradation.
Hand-in-hand with borosilicate glass, quartz is quickly becoming the standard for high-quality dab rigs. It's easy to see why—quartz glass has superior heat retention properties and is more durable than soda-lime glass.
But unlike borosilicate, quartz is also more expensive to manufacture. So when it comes to the base and body of your rig—which you aren't firing with your torch—borosilicate glass is still the way to go.
Glass comes in other formulations, too. Some examples include:
Aluminosilicate is similar to borosilicate glass in that it is resistant to high temperatures. It's more impact-resistant than borosilicate, but it's much less pliable. As a result, it's often found in flat panel shapes like stove top surfaces.
Furthermore, aluminosilicate glass is expensive to produce and difficult to work with, making it impractical for smoking and dabbing. Borosilicate glass is nearly a century-old technology, meaning it's become very affordable to manufacture. Combined with an efficient design, this lets us build dab rigs that are functional, durable, and inexpensive all at the same time.
Lead crystal glass is typically made with lead oxide (PbO). This gives it high transparency but also makes it more expensive and fragile. Because of its lead composition, it’s also unsuitable for use in drinkware or other consumable applications.
There's simply no valid reason to use lead crystal dab rigs, nor is there ever likely to be. Not only are they expensive and impractical, but they're not safe for dabbing. Borosilicate is clean, clear glass—and it's easy for glassmakers to decorate it with colored rods and frit. So there's no need to risk your health with a lead crystal dab rig when you can have the best of both worlds with borosilicate.
It's worth noting that if you buy from a glassmaker that doesn't disclose what type of glass is used in their dab rigs, you can't be sure what you're getting.
While borosilicate is by far the most common glass type for dab rigs today, that's not always the case. It's well within reason that other types of glass might be used—even lead crystal—so it pays to do your homework and ask questions before buying.
Polycarbonate glass is a tough, transparent material that's often used to make safety glass. It offers more impact resistance than other types of glass.
Many of us have probably seen polycarbonate glasses before, but they are most often found in protective eyewear or shatter-resistant sunglasses. This type of glass is nearly impossible to break with an everyday drop—but despite its toughness, it has a surprisingly low COE.
Heating up polycarbonate glass to dabbing temperatures softens it enough to cause it to warp and deform. It can even be molded at near-room temperature if it's been heated up enough to start melting.
Borosilicate glass might not stop bullets, but even if you're taking your dab rig to war, it won't do you any good if it softens under extreme heat. Borosilicate glass offers the best durability you can get in a piece of heat-resistant glass.
Ultraviolet glass is clear quartz glass that has been specially treated with magnesium fluoride to block UV light. This glass can be used in fluorescence applications where UV light would damage or adversely affect the experiment.
What's neat about UV glass is that it glows under UV light, so you can still enjoy your rig even when it's dark outside. It makes beautiful decorative accents, like our limited edition Rigloo holiday dab rig and our Apollo Series (in collaboration with Northstar Glassworks).
There are a lot of funny words in glass blowing that people use to describe the different pieces of hardware used during the process. Here are a few of the most important terms to know before you go shopping.
The first way to blow glass is the free-blowing method. With this technique, you are working with molten glass gathered on a metal pipe and heated in the furnace. You then roll it out into a long cylinder by rolling it against the edge of your bench.
You then take this mass of hot, molten glass and shape it into traditional objects, like bowls or vases. Generally, you keep adding glass to these blown pieces by gathering more glass onto the end of your blowing pipe or rod while simultaneously twisting and shaping what you already have.
The other method is called mold-blowing, where an artist forms a small ball of solid glass (a gather) on the end of a punty. They dip the mass of glass into a mold and blow air into it to inflate to the desired size.
Both methods are used for creating all kinds of glass pieces. Borosilicate glass is moldable when heated, so it's feasible to make batches of unique shapes like carb caps.
On the other hand, molding extremely small pieces of glass can be tricky, so it's sometimes easier to free-blow pieces like terp pearls. The narrow connections and tubes on a dab rig may also be finished by hand rather than mold-blown to ensure the seams are tight and there are no weak points.
The way a glassblower shapes glass is pretty simple. They heat the end of the pipe and then use their hands to stretch it out into a long, tubular piece.
They can flatten or bend this glass tube at will simply by heating and applying pressure with their tools. As pieces are snipped away, a flame is applied to smooth over the rough edges in a process called fire-polishing.
Once they warm the widened glass tubing enough, they can roll it lengthwise into a thinner tube. The glass has to be pretty hot (upwards of 1500 degrees) for this to work correctly.
The glassblower then takes this thin, long tube and blows it up into a bubble. After the blowing portion is complete, they use their tools to ensure the hot glass is uniform and smooth.
Once the glass has gone through the initial shaping process, it's time to start playing with colors. This is done by adding rods of colored glass (called stringer) before shaping it into whatever final product is desired.
Glass art is one of the most stunningly beautiful and collaborative forms of visual art. And glass making is perhaps the most celebrated aspect of smoking culture, which is why MJ Arsenal is so passionate about it.
Our mini dab rigs are just one example of the popular borosilicate glass art made by master artists in America right now. These tiny works of functional art represent an entire artistic movement, and we're stoked to be a part of it.

]]>For many people, dab rigs with complex designs can appear confusing. But it’s important to understand that any well-designed rig will offer functional value, no matter how intricate it appears.
While simple rigs are great starter pieces, complex designs can be exactly what experienced users are looking for in a dab rig. Here's how to tell the difference between them and choose one that's right for you.
The countless designs available are all made to cater to people with different preferences. Glass dab rigs can be very personal devices, and with a wide variety of percolators, chambers, and design elements out there, you can definitely find the perfect rig for you.
Rigs can have a single-slit stemline perc or a slotted tree perc. They can have a recycler or be incyclers. The chamber shapes, sizes, and designs vary across the board. Some users just want a small dome with a carbon top, while others prefer a huge showerhead perc in their rig.
Sometimes rigs are made of different materials like ceramic or even hard plastic. Silicone dab rigs and titanium parts are also out there. You can even get electric dab rigs that automatically heat your concentrates.
However, if you want a perfect dab rig experience, there's nothing better than borosilicate glass from MJA.
The complexity of a design doesn't necessarily enhance a rig’s function. However, it's worth knowing that simple mini rigs are generally easier to keep clean and maintain. On the other hand, complex pieces may be harder to clean and will take beginners some getting used to.
So what's better—something simple and straightforward, or something complex and feature-filled? That's up to you, your budget, and your style. MJ Arsenal mini rigs are compact and affordable so you can try out an action-packed rig with complex features, or you can stick with the basics and save even more.
Percolators come in all different shapes, sizes, and designs. Some are extremely intricate with hinges and additional chambers, while others might be as simple as a single slit at the end of the downstem (a diffused downstem).
The more percolators a rig has the more filtration that will take place. That can lead to better flavor, smoother hits, and cleaner smoke. On the other hand, having more percs also results in more places for the residue to collect, making it harder to clean.
When comparing pieces, keep in mind that diffused downstems are generally easier to clean than non-diffused pieces that have slits or tiny holes all over the place.
Simple designs usually involve clear glass with a single slit diffuser at the bottom of the downstem. They're the easiest to keep clean, won't break your wallet, and are suitable for beginners.
On the other hand, more complex percolators might be more delicate and difficult to clean, but they offer even more filtration and can produce some incredibly pure, flavorful hits.
Here are a few of the most common percolator designs, some of which are more functional while others are more fashionable:
One of the simplest percolators you can find is a disk perc. Disk percolators are disk-shaped plates of thin glass with a network of holes designed to generate bubbles.
Because they are small and compact, they pair with practically any rig design. They're built right into the base, so there aren't any extra hanging glass pieces inside the body of the rig.
Honeycomb percs are similar to disk percolators—they're small glass plates with tiny holes. The difference is that honeycomb percs have fewer of them, making the individual bubbles larger and creating more filtration. They work well with large, wide rigs.
They're not really any more complicated than disk percolators, and they don't take any special care compared to other types of percolators.
A tree perc starts out as a vertical tube that narrows into three, four, or even more small tubes at the end. Each of these small tubes has slits in them to diffuse the smoke and maximize flavor. A tree perc also tends to be longer than other percolators, so they fit better in taller rigs.
Tree percolators are a little bit more complex than disk percolators. They have slits all over the place so they can be tougher to clean without a pipe cleaner, but they do provide some of the best filtration out of any perc.
Now we're getting fancy—fab egg style percolators are some of the most complex pieces around. The base is similar to a disk percolator, but the body of the rig is split into two sections shaped like an egg. The connections between the upper and lower halves create more turbulent water action in the rig, allowing for more cooling action to take place during your hit.
If you're new to dabbing, look for percolators that can be easily cleaned. You can always upgrade later down the road if you find that you really enjoy dabbing.
A splash guard is a small cylinder molded into the neck of your rig to block water from entering your mouth. They're a key feature in any rig design these days as they help keep your hits (and your mouth) clean. Most water pipes and rigs have some degree of splash protection built-in, but sometimes you'll see very cheap glassware with no splash protection at all.
Every MJ Arsenal design includes a splash guard to keep your hits clean and your session comfortable. It's a basic feature with a substantial impact on your experience.
An oil catch is a small cup that's built into the rig, right beneath your dab rig's nail. It's used to catch all of the excess residue that seeps through the airway in your heated nail. This makes it extremely easy to keep your oil rig clean.
You can also reclaim unused oil from the oil catch and then vaporize any that the rig water hasn’t dirtied.
Oil catchers are convenient, but they add another layer of maintenance to your rig. You need to regularly clean out the oil catch—and when you do, it's a good time to clean your entire rig.
A recycler refers to a second chamber built between the mouthpiece and the downstem chamber. This mechanism gives the vapor and water more space to swirl around.
Having this extra space prevents vapor from standing still in the rig, which causes it to go stale, lose flavor, and re-condense around the sides of the glass. As a result, you get a cooler, smoother, and more flavorful hit. From a user standpoint, a recycler doesn't add any extra steps to your dab sessions. While they make your rig look fancier and work even better, they're simple to use.
An incycler is almost the same thing as a recycler, except that the second chamber is housed inside of the first. This allows for a much more compact form, though it ends up being a little harder to clean.
As a result, they're a bit more complex—you may have to use pipe cleaners or more abrasive cleaning solutions to reach all the way inside and clean out tough gunk. The solution? Clean your rig after every session, and it'll never accumulate all that junk.
Uptakes refer to the stems (or "arms") that connect the intake chamber to the recycler chamber. The arm can go straight, or it can loop up and around the rig.
This is largely an aesthetic design choice, but it can affect how your rig performs. Generally speaking, straight arms are easier to clean, while loops provide more air movement.
Oil rigs are typically sold as either a single-uptake or double-uptake design. This refers to the number of arms on the intake chamber.
Single uptakes are lighter and more affordable but less durable. Double uptakes provide a larger surface area, helping to cool off more of the vapor. They're also a bit more stable and durable than single uptake designs.
Like anything else, more parts mean more cleaning, so double uptake rigs are more complex to care for. However, uptakes don’t make it any more complicated to use your rig—they make the experience even smoother.
There are a number of factors to consider when choosing your next dab rig. Dab rigs sort of work the same way as traditional waterpipes, but the style and design of your glass dab rig can have a profound impact on its functionality.
MJ Arsenal only uses premium borosilicate glass to craft our rigs. Cheap dab rigs made from soda-lime glass are lighter and easier to break.
Borosilicate glass is more durable, which means your rig will be less likely to break from a drop or fall. Quality glass can help guarantee your rig will perform consistently even after years of use.
Once you've decided which material is right for you, the next step is to choose a style and color that appeals to your senses.
Colored glass can make your rig strikingly beautiful. Some smokers appreciate the aesthetics, while others are only concerned with function.
Color doesn't have any real impact on the functionality of the rig, so feel free to choose the color of your choice without impacting your experience. If you like something flashy and you have the cash, go for it!
Rigs with simple designs are generally more affordable and easier to maintain. They're great for those who want something eye-catching but don't want to worry about getting their dab rig dirty or keeping track of multiple percs.
Complex designs may be harder to keep clean and maintain, but they also provide a luxurious experience for experienced dabbers. They're great for those who want something that can't be found elsewhere and understand how to take care of their rig.
Keep in mind that there are other factors to consider when choosing a piece for yourself, such as the size and weight of the rig. However, it's important to understand, when it comes to simple and complex designs, one is not better than the other. You should always choose a rig that makes sense for you as an individual!
If you're still not sure what you need, you can learn more from our complete guide to dab rigs. The sky's the limit when it comes to percolators and dab rigs. The only thing holding you back is your imagination.
If you’re new to dabbing, you might not know a lot about rig designs, but it’s essential to understand the impact of different features before choosing a dab rig. You also want to be aware of the benefits that come with each style so you can find the best dab rig for you.

Dive in, explore your options, and choose a rig that satisfies your unique needs as well as your aesthetic preferences.]]>We also want to point out that the “mini” in mini-rig isn’t just about size. It also refers to the fact that the percolator is smaller than a typical bong percolator.
As you would expect, this smaller percolator causes the water to become more turbulent when smoke passes through it. The result? Smoother, more flavorful dab vapor.
Beyond that, there are a lot of options when it comes to buying a mini rig. Let's break down exactly what comes with a mini rig to help you find the perfect water pipe for you.
When you use a miniature dab rig, the first thing you’ll notice is that you don’t pull as much air when taking a hit. This is a good thing because less air equals more flavor!
With the more restrictive airflow, you’ll taste more flavor from your concentrates. While the traditional oil rig requires a lot of air to provide you with all of that sweet, flavorful smoke, mini rigs can give you an excellent experience with less air.
Mini rigs are also much smaller and easier to store than larger water pipes and other types of dabbing setups. With more efficient use of space, you’ll have more flexibility in how your rig and dabbing gear looks and the experience you can create, which gives you a better chance of finding a setup that suits you perfectly.
Mini rigs also can be more affordable than other types of dabbing setups. Their smaller size makes them cheaper to produce, but they can still give you all the features you need for an excellent dab session. Basically, with a mini dab rig, you don’t have to break the bank to own an exquisite piece of glass.
The hardest part about owning a miniature dab rig might be settling for just one. When you can appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into each mini rig and the distinct experience you can get from different designs, you’ll want to try them all!
The pieces that make up a miniature rig are the base, body, mouthpiece, and banger. Every rig comes with these pieces, but some contain different types of percolators and chambers to give you a unique experience.
Manufacturers use a few different materials to make a dab rig, but glass dab rigs work the best.
Borosilicate glass is strong and temperature-resistant enough to withstand constant use. It is also easy to clean, which is vital for maintaining your favorite piece. Plus, it takes longer to let a quartz nail cool down, so you have a longer window of time to take your hit.
When it comes to percolators, the two most common types are disc and tree percs. The difference between them has to do with how the bubbles make their exit.
Disc percolators are similar to honeycomb percs. The bubbles come out of the holes in a circular pattern, allowing for more dispersion and thus more filtering. Tree percs, on the other hand, have fewer individual holes and allow for less dispersion, but they fit into tighter spaces.
Finally, you can't use your dab rig without a dab nail or banger. Bangers are made of different types of materials, including the classic ceramic nail, titanium, and quartz.
At MJ Arsenal, we include premium quartz bangers with all of our rigs. They're easy to clean with isopropyl alcohol, and they have fantastic heat retention properties. We also have a variety of bucket replacements, so you can use your rig for years.
Every MJ Arsenal mini dab rig comes with the following components:
Many value brands won't include bangers with their rigs, but we like to include them because we want you to get the most out of your purchase. If you need a new quartz banger or a carb cap, we also have replacements available for purchase. Combined with our rigs, they provide an affordable dabbing experience.
You can buy a mini rig for a reasonable price and enjoy the same experience you get from a larger dab rig. We make it easy to find something that fits your preferences with several design options, including different colors and styles.
We even have a rig with a built-in dab container for storing your oils!
Right out of the box, your new dab rig doesn't have all of the necessary equipment for dabbing. These are the pieces you'll need, along with some of our recommendations:
You can't use your dab rig without a reliable torch or e-rig setup. This is because the quartz nail or banger must be heated either with an open flame or an electric dab rig in order for it to vaporize your concentrates.
You need to use a torch for this process because it provides more heat than standard disposable lighters. With a torch as your heating element, you'll be able to heat your nail or banger in less than a minute. If you want faster heating, you can use an electric nail.
And don't forget—a butane refill is essential for powering your torch. You may need to refill your torch often, but refill canisters deplete slowly.
Dabbing, naturally, requires oil concentrates. If you want to smoke plant matter with your dab rig, you can easily convert it with a flower bowl.
And don't forget the dab tool! You'll need this to place your concentrate on the hot nail. Dab tools are heat-resistant, so you won’t burn yourself when using them.
Finding the right dab pipe for your needs can be difficult. Choosing to buy a low-quality piece can lead to your nail hitting the side of the rig, which damages it and leaves you without a working banger.
On the other hand, buying a high-quality piece that is too expensive may leave you without money to buy all the gear you need to use it properly.
To avoid these problems, make sure you know what qualities make a great-quality piece.
First, you need to consider the materials used in the construction of your concentrate rig. One of the most common types of glass used in dab rigs is borosilicate glass. This type of glass is extremely durable. It is the glass of laboratory equipment.
Another beneficial aspect of borosilicate is that it does not scratch easily—this means that you won’t need to worry about your rig becoming discolored or tired-looking after using it for an extended period of time.
You also want to look for rigs with reinforced glass parts, as they will last longer and provide you with a better smoking experience. A standard dab rig has a base and arms made of reinforced glass. If there is an extra piece connecting the arm to the base, it should also be made from reinforced glass.
Next up: bangers and nails. Not all bangers and titanium nails are compatible with every rig (and the same goes for electronic nails). At MJ Arsenal, all of our mini dabbing rigs work with 10mm quartz nails, so you always know what size banger you need.
However, other common sizes include 14mm and 18mm. If you try to mix and match your gear, make sure that your dab rig works with the nail or banger. If it doesn't, you can find glass adapters to connect different-sized pieces.
When it comes to percolators, bigger and fancier doesn't necessarily mean better. It is better to find a dabbing rig with one or two simple percolators rather than a complex design.
A large perc in the main chamber is ideal, but you should also consider whether or not you would like a perc that recycles the smoke from one chamber into another for extra cooling.
Avoid percolators with non-functional internal artwork, as it's unlikely that they will affect your smoking experience. The more glass pieces there are inside your rig, the harder it will be to clean.
To make your life easier, look for base-mounted percs with large holes like those found on the Royale or the Infinity. These percs are easy to clean, prevent spills, and provide excellent cooling.
A good dab rig is essential because it provides a safe, reliable way to smoke concentrates. With the right piece, you won't go through months of frustration as you try to find the banger that fits properly.
You also won't risk destroying your piece if you knock it over because of shoddy craftsmanship. And you'll be able to enjoy the best possible dabbing experience with every hit.
The perfect dab rig setup doesn't need to be expensive—just good quality. And with MJ Arsenal, you can always count on quality.
Our mini dab rigs come in a variety of styles and colors, but they all have borosilicate glass construction with reinforced parts. They are ergonomically designed to be easy to clean and use, which makes them the perfect purchase for beginners and veterans alike.

A dab rig is a piece of glassware specifically made for vaporizing concentrates and extracts. Since concentrates are oily and turn to liquid (and eventually vapor) at high temperatures, holding the hot oils while inhaling requires a special device.
You may see the occasional ceramic or silicone dab rig, but glass dab rigs are the standard. There are also electric dab rigs with battery-powered elements, like the G-Pen Connect.
Vapor from hot oil tends to concentrate quickly into solid form, meaning that oil rigs require precise engineering and a smaller overall form factor than glassware built for combustion. That's why MJ Arsenal specializes in mini dab rigs, with most pieces ranging between 4 and 7 inches in height.
Typically, you use a water pipe to smoke plant matter. Combustion is a more straightforward process than vaporization, so water pipes are designed with a larger bowl and longer neck to dissipate heat. Their larger size accommodates design implements like ice catchers or modular attachments to enhance the experience.
Instead of a bowl piece, dab rigs use a heating element called a nail. Oils vaporize on the hot surface of the nail, producing clean, flavorful vapor for inhalation without leaving behind ashes. In a bowl piece, the airway sits in the bottom of the bowl underneath your plant matter. With a dab nail, the airway is positioned above or off to the side of the hot oil. As a result, bowls and nails have very different shapes and heat tolerances.
Each component of your dab rig serves a specific purpose, and it's worth studying each part carefully before choosing your rig. This will help you get the most out of your purchase and ensure that it suits your style.
The nail is the heating element of your rig. The most reliable nails are made of quartz, which heats evenly and is extremely resistant to thermal shock. Technically speaking, a quartz nail is referred to as a "banger" and is shaped like a bucket.
Premium Full-Weld Quartz Bucket
As the banger heats, it gradually becomes red hot, signaling that it's almost time to dab. A good banger retains heat for as long as possible, resulting in a slower, longer cooldown time. This helps you achieve more consistent temperatures from hit to hit, especially if you don't have a thermometer to help you.
The joint is the fitting that connects your banger to your rig. It seals the airway for your vapor to travel into the water chamber. The receiver joint also has to insulate the rest of the piece from the intense heat of the nail, meaning it sticks out from the front.
Since the receiver is where you insert and remove the nail, it's more damage-prone than the rest of your oil rig. A good dab rig has plenty of support for the receiver piece to provide stability and prevent accidental breakage. Pay attention to how the receiver joint fastens to the rest of the rig.
One of the most common and distinctive features in a dab rig, a percolator filters and cools your smoke by passing it through a series of tiny holes or slits. The water filtration process reduces the harshness of your hit and helps bring out the flavor in your product.
All of our dab rigs have a percolation system built into the downstem, but not all percolators look the same. Some of our best dab rigs use disc percs and puck percs to cool the smoke, making them a great choice for new smokers or veterans with sensitive throats.
The water chamber is typically the largest "body" piece of the dab rig. Typically, you want to fill the water chamber at least a half-inch above the top of the percolator's openings. This varies depending on the exact specs of your rig.
MJ Arsenal includes a fill level guide on every package. That way, you know exactly how much to fill no matter which rig you like best.
Recyclers are additional water chambers for your dab rig, allowing the water to travel with the vapor as it passes through the rig and cooling the smoke even more. Recyclers can be placed above or below the water chamber, depending on the rig.
Some creative dab rigs have recyclers built into the same chamber as the water—otherwise known as an "incycler."
These various orientations give designers plenty of room to be creative, and they have huge impacts on the rig's functionality.
Finally, the mouthpiece is where you inhale your product. There are two basic styles of mouthpieces: angled and bent. An angled neck naturally aids with splash blocking but requires you to hold the rig up higher.
Bent necks don't block splashback as much, but since the opening faces more upward, it's easier to take a hit while the rig is resting on the table.
MJ Arsenal has bent and angled mouthpieces to meet your preference, with a splash blocker built into every design. That way, you get a clean hit every time, no matter which style you like better.
Dab rigs are generally pretty easy to use, but they're not quite as straightforward as smoking a pipe. With a pipe, you can load your bowl, fire, and inhale. But, a dab rig requires a little more precision.
Dab rigs are designed to hold a specific amount of water, and you'll need to know how much that is to load your rig. Since this depends on the exact water chamber and percolator specs, MJ Arsenal includes a fill level guide on every package.
Avoid overfilling: The water level shouldn't approach the top of the chamber itself. For most wax rigs, including glass and silicone dab rigs, you only need to fill enough to cover the entire percolator. If water is seeping into your oil catcher from the chamber, you've probably filled it too much.
Place your concentrate on the end of the dab tool. Usually, it's a good idea to do this before you heat your nail so you're not scrambling around trying to load your rig during the cooldown period. A dab should be approximately the size of a grain of rice.
At the proper dab temperature range, you'll get a potent inhale of thick vapor. If you take too large a dab or burn it too hot, it will be harsh and scorch the oil without releasing much vapor.
Highly viscous, waxy concentrates are the easiest to handle since they tend to hold their shape on their own. These concentrates are easy to prepare and set aside, but concentrates that come in fine powders or runny liquid forms may spill or drip from your dab tool.
Practice picking up your concentrate on the end of your dab tool, and find a stable surface to set it down while you apply heat to the rig. The dab tool rack built into our Official Dab Tray is a great resting place for your tool during this step.
You'll need a butane torch to heat your nail. The best nails are made of quartz and will get red hot 15-20 seconds after you apply the flame. But, when you fire your quartz bucket for the first time, you may not notice any reddening at all.
Laboratory-grade quartz maintains its crystal-clear transparency even at extreme temperatures. Impurities, dirt, or dust on the glass will glow red when superheated, helping you see when your nail is fully heated and indicating it's time to clean the nail.
The heat from the nail travels down the stem towards the receiver joint, meaning once you've heated the bucket you should not touch the glass or quartz between the receiver and the nail. It can take 15 minutes for glass to cool to safe handling temperatures, so be patient and never use cold water to cool the glass rapidly.
When the nail is red hot, it's not quite time for your dab yet. A fully heated nail exceeds 1000°F, but the upper limit for dabbing is between 800-850°F (and even that's high—many dab rig users prefer lower temps in the 450-600°F range).
The popular strategy for achieving the perfect dab is to allow the nail to cool for 40-50 seconds before dabbing. As you countdown the final seconds, you want to have your rig in one hand and your loaded dab tool in the other. This way, you can drop in your dab immediately when the nail is ready.
As soon as the dab touches the hot quartz it flash vaporizes, meaning it instantaneously converts from liquid to gaseous vapor. The moment this happens, vapor starts rising. To capture the vapor, begin inhaling as you place the dab into the bucket. Just don't inhale too hard.
With an uncovered bucket, the airflow is strong enough to pull oil into the stem as you inhale. Additionally, this heavy airflow suppresses vapor production. If you inhale gently, you'll start pulling vapor into the rig without pulling oil in along with it.
To combat seepage and vapor suppression, you can put a glass cap on top of the bucket. Called "carb caps," these devices have a small carb hole that allows air to pass into the dish—but with greatly restricted airflow.
This reduction in airflow makes it harder for you to suck oil into the downstem as you inhale. Additionally, sealing off more outside air creates more vapor pressure inside the bucket. For this reason, you'll notice the vapor cloud in your rig gets thicker and puffier once you put on the carb cap and start inhaling fully.
Carb caps are a significant enhancement that help you get the most out of every dab. Without a carb cap, you'll inhale less vapor while leaving more leftover residue in your bucket. Available for as low as $10, MJ Arsenal carb caps are a great investment for your dab rig.

If you're a smoker, you've probably heard of 420 and 710.
But do you know what they mean and why we mark these days? In this blog post, we'll break down the meanings of these terms and give you a little history lesson on how they came to be. Read closely: there are some fun facts about the significance of each number.
Let’s dive right in!
The term "420" remains popular in the smoker culture today and it’s been around for decades — although its origins are somewhat unclear. Regardless of its origins, the term "420" has become synonymous with blazing community.
Some say a group of San Rafael high school students coined the term because they would meet at 4:20 pm to smoke. 420 also became known as the preferred hotel room number of the Grateful Dead on tour, though this may just be a rumor. Others claim it refers to the California police code for smoking.
Every year, the date April 20th — also known as “4/20” — has become an unofficial niche holiday around the world. People gather to celebrate all things green on this day, from smoking and vaping to eating edibles and shopping for special gear.
There are many theories about the origins of 420, but the most popular one on Urban Dictionary traces it back to a group of high school students in the 1970s. According to legend, the San Rafael high school students would meet at 4:20 pm to blaze, and the code phrase quickly spread among their peers.
While there's no way to definitively know whether or not this story is true, it seems plausible given the timing. In the early 1970s, smoking increased in popularity among young people, and the use of code words and secret language was commonplace among counterculture groups.
As a result, it's not surprising that 420 became associated with greenery. In recent years, 420 has become an international phenomenon, with people worldwide using it as an opportunity to celebrate blazing culture.
In the world of smoking, 710 refers to the consumption of oil, wax, live resin, or shatter. The term “710” is a code used by smokers. However, like the date “4/20,” the numbers also refer to the date of July 10th — or “7/10.” On this day, people consume concentrates to get the best possible high.
Why 710? Well, because it's the word "oil" written upside down!
While some people use 710 as an opportunity to socialize and smoke with friends, others use it as a chance to get stoned in the privacy of their own homes. No matter how you choose to celebrate 710, one thing is for sure: it's yet another chance to come together and consume with friends.
For many people, 4/20 and 7/10 are special days that occur once a year to celebrate smoker culture. But you’re not limited to annual commemoration. Every day can be an opportune time – so a number of smokers opt to consume and enjoy daily at 4:20 pm and 7:10 pm. For some, this is simply a fun way to experience their love of natural smokeables. But for others, it has a more serious purpose.
See, 4/20 and 7/10 are both dates associated with legalization efforts. By celebrating on a daily basis, enthusiasts hope to keep the momentum going and continue the journey towards full legalization.
So whether you're enjoying a leisurely smoke at 4:20 pm or using July 10 as an excuse to eat your weight in edibles, remember that you're taking part in and contributing to a much larger movement.
420-friendly and 710-friendly are both terms that refer to smoking recreationally. 420-friendly means that the person is open to smoking plants, while 710-friendly means that the person is open to vaporizing concentrates.
Both terms are used primarily in the United States, though other countries may also use these terms. The origin of the term 420-friendly is unclear, but it probably started in the early 2000s. The term 710-friendly likely originated in the late 2000s or early 2010s.
Many people use the two terms in the same way, though some people may prefer one over the other.
If you're a smoking enthusiast, there's no wrong way to celebrate dab day. Some people choose to smoke or vape, while others prefer to eat edibles. You can also wear green clothing or accessories, or decorate your home with green-themed items.
A new bowl or bong is always a great way to celebrate 420 and 710. There's no better time than the holidays to treat yourself to a high-quality smoking device. Whether you're a seasoned smoker or a beginner, there's something for everyone at 420-friendly and 710-friendly dispensaries.
The answer is yes — 420 still matters, now more than ever. While blazing is no longer taboo, there is still a lot of misinformation and misunderstanding surrounding the plant.
420 provides an opportunity to open up a dialogue about smoking and dispel some of the myths. It also helps to raise awareness of the benefits of legalization and the need for further reform.
In short, 420 is still an important day for advocates of reform. It is a day to commemorate smoker culture and to push for change.
4/20 and 7/10 are considered by many to be the two most important days in the smoker's calendar. 4/20, of course, is the day when smokers around the world celebrate smoker culture, while 7/10 is known as "Dab Day," when enthusiasts enjoy concentrates and oils.
However, there are plenty of other lesser-known holidays that are worth celebrating. For example, April 1st is "Rosin Day," when smokers enjoy solventless hash and rosin concentrate products. August 8th is "CBD Day," when CBD-rich strains are enjoyed for their calming effects.
And every weekend, you can have yourself a "Shatterday" and take some potent oils on the go.
There are a few different options when it comes to consuming on 4/20. One option is to smoke, which is the most popular method. You can smoke with paper or a glass smoking rig.
Glass smoking rigs are a popular choice for 420, as they provide a cleaner and smoother smoke. You can get simple glass pipes that are easy to use and carry around, and these are often inexpensive and convenient pieces. Most smokers have at least one glass pipe handy for when the need arises.
Water pipes, however, take your smoking experience to another level. These larger pieces offer more filtration, resulting in a cooler and smoother smoke.
They're also a great way to enjoy with friends. If you're looking for a more luxurious smoking experience, a water pipe is the way to go.
Smoking blunts is even more party-friendly, but the harsh smoke and intense flavors can be a bit much for some users. That's why blunt bubblers are on the rise.
The Martian Original Blunt Bubbler
Blunt bubblers offer the best of both worlds, combining the smooth smoking experience of a bubbler with the convenience and portability of a blunt. They fit in the palm of your hand, and they have a special receiver piece for rolled papers, so they're welcome at any celebration.
For concentrate connoisseurs, there are a few different options. One is to dab, which involves smoking extracts with a special dabbing rig. This process involves heating up a glass bucket until it's red-hot and then dropping in the extracts.
The vapor will quickly rise up through the rig and into your lungs. Glass dab rigs also feature water filtration chambers, which further purify and cool the vapor. This is a quick, intense way to consume extracts, and it's perfect for those who want an intense session.
There are also glass buckets, which come in a variety of different styles depending on how you like to dab.
Check out our premium fully-fused quartz bucket collection to find cold-start buckets, drip buckets, and extra-large buckets for those extra-large dab sessions.
There are a few ways to find 420-friendly events near you.
The first step is to search online for meetups or other gatherings that are specifically geared toward smoking. You can also try searching for general social events in your area that are likely to be tolerant of smoking.
Finally, you can always create your own 420-friendly event if all else fails. Whether you’re hosting a movie night or a bake sale, there’s no reason you can’t enjoy your favorite pastime in the company of like-minded people.
When it comes to 420-friendly events, there are a few things you should always remember to bring. First and foremost, you'll need to bring your own substance to smoke. Depending on the public celebration, there may or may not be people selling products, but it's always better to be safe than sorry.
In addition, you'll need to bring something to smoke with. If you don't have a pipe, now's the time to stock up.
You'll also want to bring some money. Most events have a cover charge, and many also have vendors selling snacks, drinks, and other goodies.
Finally, don't forget to bring your ID! Even if blazing is legal in your state, you still may need to show identification to get into a 420-friendly event.
A convenient carrying pouch is a great way to keep everything together if you're out and about with your gear. It's best to keep your stash in one discreet chamber that's padded and protected, so you don't have to worry about anything getting damaged.
The MJ Arsenal Padded Zipper Pouch is perfect for carrying your stash anywhere. We've upgraded to a larger size with a snug fit to keep your rig and other smoking essentials safe and sound. The padded lining also helps to protect your belongings from any accidental bumps or drops.
The first step is to check the local laws to see what the regulations are regarding smoking in public places. Once you've done that, you can start looking for a venue that allows smoking.
There are a few things to look for when choosing a venue, such as whether or not there are designated smoking areas, whether the venue has good ventilation, and whether they allow vaping.
You should also make sure to ask about the venue's policies on outside food and drink, as some venues may not allow guests to bring their own. By following these tips, you can be sure that your event will be a success.
While 420 and 710 celebrations may be the perfect opportunity to stock up on your favorite products, not everyone can make it to these events. Fortunately, there are still plenty of ways to enjoy yourself without attending a crowded party.
When you're blazing at home, it's the perfect time to enjoy more extravagant dab gear or even electronic rigs. An electric dab nail isn't as portable as a pen, but it's the perfect way to get exactly the right temperature for your dabs.

Mini Rigs are the most efficient way to smoke dabs, allowing you to smoke less concentrate while still experiencing the same enjoyment. You get bigger hits than a vape pen, and all you need to smoke wax with your rig is a torch and a dab tool.
But a quality rig isn't all you need. You also need to understand what you're doing. This article includes a step-by-step guide on how to smoke dab rigs and extracts efficiently, as well as some common-sense tips that will help maximize each Mini Rig sesh.
There are many advantages to using a miniature dab rig instead of a “normal” sized rig. For one, the act of drawing air through the glass impacts how much flavor you can taste. Since miniature rigs require less air to pull than your average pipe, your hits will pack more flavor.
The compact size of these rigs is also convenient for anyone looking to enjoy their dabbing experience on the go. Because of their size and how easy it is to use them, you only need to take one or two long, slow inhalations to experience the effects of your dabs.
Also, using a mini dab rig makes it easier to avoid awkward moments—because of the small size, it’s less obvious what you're doing when you’re dabbing.
Unlike traditional dab rigs, Mini Rigs take up minimal space. You can carry most of them in the palm of your hand. They actually resemble a regular water pipe more than a bulky piece that you might see at a party.
Another thing that makes Mini Rigs so practical is their design. The design makes it easier for you to control how much you're taking in every time you dab (and they also look cute as hell on your shelf). The more efficiently you consume concentrates, the more money and materials you can save.
If you're looking for a pragmatic way to smoke dabs, then Mini Rigs are the best option. They are available at a wide range of prices, so it's easy for everyone to find something that will suit their tastes and budget.
What’s the best way to smoke dabs—should you use a torch and banger or an e-nail?
Using a torch with a banger is pretty much the iconic image of dabbing, and for good reason. Torches are easy to use, inexpensive, and will work for pretty much any type of concentrate. Whether you want big rips or small ones, a torch and banger is the way to go.
On the other hand, e-nails are a bit different. They use electricity to heat your dabs, which offers a much cleaner and more efficient way to enjoy concentrates.
The best part about using an electric dab nail is that you can get the same amount of vapor with every dab hit because it's electronically controlled. Plus, since e-nails don't run on butane, they can be more convenient than torches.
But e-nails tend to be a bit more expensive than torches, so if you want something affordable yet efficient, then it's probably best for you to stick with a butane torch.
Just having a good mini dab rig and the right accessories isn’t enough. You can still be wasteful if you don’t use your gear the right way. Here are some tips to make sure you’re getting the most out of your experience.
Low temperatures are very important for getting the most out of your dabs. High temps tend to cause over-dabbing, which leads to waste and combusted concentrate inhalation.
Even worse, if the vapor is too hot when it comes into contact with room-temperature air, it can re-condense too quickly, leaving a nasty, sticky film on your lips and teeth.
On the other hand, low temps preserve the flavor and vaporize a very concentrated amount of oil. To vape effectively, oils require temperatures between 500°and 600° Fahrenheit, but you can go as high as 800 to 850° if you like denser clouds.
When dabbing, the general rule is to start with small dabs and do small dab hits until you can judge how strong the hit will be. If you're using a banger, it's easy to gauge how long your dab will take to vaporize. Just wait for the surface of the red hot nail to cool and inhale until it's all gone.
With a little practice, you’ll be able to take in more vapor than before and still get the same effects. Try not to leave stale vapor sitting in your oil rig—instead, use a smaller dab so you can get the whole thing in one go.
Efficiency is everything when it comes to using your dab rig, so start small and maximize your airflow. Using a carb cap can help you get larger hits than usual because it controls the airflow. It also helps smooth out the harshness of your dabs so you can get more out of them.
Figuring out how to use a carb cap can take some practice, but it’s definitely not too difficult. You want to cover the dab with your carb cap after you put it in your banger. Just wait for the dabs to melt down before you inhale. Then, pull slowly so you don't draw unvaped oils into the downstem.
A lot of people think that terp pearls are a waste of time and money, but they're actually awesome if you want to improve the flavor of your dabs. Terp pearls are made of quartz, a material that’s great for trapping heat.
The increased surface area helps flash vaporize more of your concentrates at once, giving you a potent, power-packed punch of planty flavor. To get even more out of your terp pearls, don’t forget your spinner cap.
Keeping your glass clean is essential for removing residual oils. Otherwise, you’ll experience a nasty aftertaste that can ruin an otherwise perfectly good dab. Not only that but keeping your rigs and nails clean will also help you avoid wasting concentrates.
You can use a cotton swab soaked in iso to wipe out the heating chamber after every dab. Try not to leave any leftover residue inside because it will only burn up if you heat it again. The residue also transfers heat, meaning it'll take longer to heat up your banger when it's dirty.
This process is much easier with a handy iso station. These stations have a basin for isopropyl and a storage bank for cotton swabs, allowing for quick and easy cleaning. The MJ Arsenal iso station also features a second compartment for dipping dirty swabs so you can keep your iso stores clean and pure.
And don't just clean the banger—maintaining your rig is important, too. Periodically inspect your downstem and the tubes that connect the water chamber to the banger for any residue or buildup. Check out our Complete Guide to Dab Rigs to learn more about cleaning methods that will make your rig sparkle.
If you're looking for an efficient method to get the most value out of your dabs, then try cold-start dabbing.
The cold start method simply means loading your concentrates into a cold banger before applying your heating element. Your concentrates will start to vaporize as soon as the banger reaches around 450°F and before it begins to turn red.
This means you'll be able to take your hits much faster since you don't have to heat your banger all the way and allow it to cool. MJ Arsenal has premium quartz cold-start bangers specially designed for this technique.
As you can see, it's easy to get more value out of your dabs when you use a mini dab rig. Just remember to start with small hits first and work your way up to larger ones if you feel like it. Once you master all of these techniques, you’ll be able to save money by wasting less oil.
Our new line of premium quartz bangers lets you take advantage of cold-start dabbing to get bigger, tastier hits every time. There are different styles available, each designed for a specific type of dabber. Check out our quartz collection to find the best fit for your setup.
]]>Nowadays, the landscape has changed, with multiple convenient options allowing people to dab in a variety of ways – like choosing to carry their dabs around with them in pocket-sized vaporizers. But compact dab rigs are not the only option.
Mini rigs are becoming increasingly popular because they are much easier to carry, more convenient (and discreet when necessary), and produce a much cleaner flavor overall.
While both dab rigs and vaporizers have their place in the glass industry, knowing why mini rigs are a superior choice can help you to make the best possible purchase when it comes time to add one (or several) to your collection. Here's why mini rigs are the best choice for your all-around dabbing experience.
There are a few key differences to take note of when it comes to traditional water pipes and glass dab rigs. For starters, traditional waterpipes are meant for smoking plant matter, while dab rigs are specifically designed for concentrates. The way the clouds travel is the same, but the mechanics are different.
Since concentrates melt into liquid form before they vaporize, they need a more complex mechanism to keep them in place while air is pulled into the rig. With flower, the burning plant won't go anywhere as long as the opening is small enough.
The second difference between water pipes and dab rigs is tied to how each form of smoking affects terpenes. Smoking plant matter reduces the amount of flavor, but having water in your chamber cools off the smoke enough so that you can taste it.
Fewer terpenes are burned away with concentrates, so you experience a more complete flavor spectrum. This is why mini rigs, with their smaller chambers and options for tubing, are a more efficient way to enjoy the flavor.
The third difference is the size of the chamber. Waterpipes typically have significantly larger chambers than dab rigs, since it takes more water to cool down the smoke coming from plant matter.
You do not need that large chamber for concentrates, so you see smaller chambers in dab rigs. This saves on material and keeps you from having to carry so much weight around.
Mini rigs offer a number of advantages over traditional water pipes and larger dab rigs. They are easier to store and more portable, making them perfect for taking with you on the go. They are also faster to clean, meaning you can spend less time maintaining your rig and more time enjoying your favorite concentrates.
Additionally, they are harder to knock over, making them more durable and long-lasting. Because mini rigs are smaller than larger rigs, they require less material. This lower price makes them far more affordable — which also trickles down to accessories (like dab tools) that then also cost less.
If you want a rig that is small enough to take with you on the go — but one that still gives you an enjoyable all-around experience — mini dab rigs are the best choice. They have all the benefits of more traditional dab rigs or silicone dab rigs without sacrificing functionality or convenience.
But miniature glass dab rigs aren't just convenient — they're objectively better for dabbing than electronic dab rigs or a silicone dab rig, and we can prove it. Let's talk about what makes mini dab rigs so much better than larger water pipes and novelty dab rigs.
When it comes to dabbing, size does matter. In fact, the size of your rig can have a significant impact on the overall experience.
Larger rigs tend to produce more vapor, giving you beefier hits. However, they also require more material and are harder to store and transport. Mini rigs, on the other hand, are smaller and more portable. And what they're lacking in size, they make up for in pure flavor and raw dabbing power.
The secret behind mini dab rigs lies in the science behind how air and vapor interact at high temperatures.
At boiling temperatures, air resistance drops. When there's more pressure escaping from the hot oil than air pressure fighting back against it, the liquid evaporates into thick, juicy vapor.
Without a cap, you let too much air into the dab nail, adding to the air resistance against the oil that's trying to evaporate. That is the reason that carb caps for your dabs are essential.
Once you draw the hot vapor into your rig, the next step is crucial. If there's too much space inside the tubing, any positive air pressure will push out against the vaporized substances, causing it to buckle and bend instead of flowing smoothly.
When a smooth flow is interrupted, the smoke comes into contact with more oxygen. More oxygen causes a significant decrease in flavor, causing dreaded terpene degradation and stale, flavorless hits.
Excess tubing also results in more surface area where dried oil can build up. So, although it won’t necessarily eliminate residue, you'll ultimately spend more time cleaning your rig.
A smaller rig with a smaller chamber, on the other hand, produces bigger clouds of vapor you can inhale. With less air resistance and a smaller chamber, the vapor flows more smoothly through the tubing and always stays as flavorful as possible.
Narrower tubing has less open space, making it easier for the vapor to maintain its flowing shape. It also drastically decreases the surface area where oil can build up—and cleaning your mini rig is fast and painless when you don't have to worry about scrubbing away at dried residue.
All of this means that your mini rig is more efficient than a larger one. In fact, the right-sized tubing and chamber can actually increase flavor by preventing air from diluting the vapor.
At MJ Arsenal, all of our modern glassware is sized to fit 10mm male to female joint sizes.
While larger sizes like 14mm and 18mm are plentiful, there are a number of reasons why 10mm is the way to go.
Firstly, smaller sizes are generally the most efficient. They require less material to function at standard glass dab rig temperatures, meaning they cost you less to purchase and replace.
There's also no denying that smaller oil rigs make for more portable dabbing. You can stash your 10mm bucket in a purse, backpack, or even your pocket and take it with you wherever you go. Any rig built for a 10mm joint size is small enough to fit almost anywhere, unlike larger concentrate rigs that take up more space.
Plus, if you live in an apartment or are otherwise limited on space, having the smallest concentrate rig possible is key to enjoying concentrates no matter where you are.
Smaller joints also make it easier for you to handle the rig in general. A smaller surface area means less risk of dropping, breaking, or burning yourself on your glass pipe. Not only is 10mm more convenient for portable use, but it's also safer and easier to navigate when dabbing.
And when it comes to dabs, a bigger bucket doesn't always mean a better hit. It only takes a tiny amount of oil to dab, and it's easy to waste concentrates by putting too much into the bucket at once.
Your dabs will stop vaporizing efficiently once the temperature drops under 400-450 degrees, but you'll burn your dabs if you start hitting above 850 degrees.
No matter what you do, you can only take as big a hit as your lung power allows—and your bucket will be cooling off in the meantime. This means it's not practical to overload your bucket, and as a result, larger dab nails don't add many benefits.
MJ Arsenal's fully fused bucket collection is made from 3mm thick quartz. Instead of dabbing with an oversized bucket, our miniature 10mm buckets make the most efficient use of your extracts. They offer superior heat retention to increase the "in-temp" time during your dab session.
You get the full flavor of your concentrates with less oil, meaning your bucket lasts longer and you spend less money in the long run.
When it comes to dabbing, smaller rigs are always better than larger ones. They're more efficient, easier to use, and less expensive in the long run. They also make your concentrates last longer, produce bigger clouds of vapor you can inhale, and are much safer to use than larger rigs.
Whether you're a new dabber or a longtime enthusiast, there's no reason to use a larger oil rig when smaller ones are more effective and convenient. Just because you're used to using a bigger rig doesn't mean it's the best way to go.
Check out MJ Arsenal's selection of mini dab rigs and read our dab rig FAQ—The Complete Guide to Dab Rigs—to see why smaller isn't just better—it's the future of concentrate consumption.
]]>There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to consumption methods. It all depends on what you're looking for in a smoke sesh. Concentrates have all of the good parts of the natural plant without any hazardous smoke. But, you can vape flower as well.
That's why there are glass pipes and rigs designed for every smokable under the sun, and MJ Arsenal is here to tell you everything you need to know to get the most out of your products.
When choosing between a flower pipe or dab rigs, you first need to decide what you want to get out of your sesh. Are you looking for the best taste possible? Do you want to keep the amount of smoke produced minimal? There are pros and cons to each option, so let's start by considering the benefits of dabs and dab rigs when compared to smoking flower.
When you smoke a bowl full of flower, you're going to have a lot of excess residue baking onto the insides of your piece.
Over time, this build-up can alter the flavor of your products, leaving you with less pleasant hits. And if you're getting tar inside your pipe, that means you're getting a little bit inside your throat and lungs, too—which could even lead to chronic bronchitis and lung damage.
Concentrates are designed to be purer and thus easier on the human body. The extraction process leaves only terps and dab oils behind, leaving out the remaining plant matter found in flower. On top of that, dabbing uses vaporization instead of combustion.
This prevents the production of tar and other harmful byproducts from smoke. While there's still ongoing research into the health risks associated with vaporization, many users report a smoother, less harsh experience with dabs.
Because concentrates are purer, they're more effective at delivering terps and other ingredients in smaller doses. For those who are new to concentrates, a little bit of extract goes a long way towards providing immediate relief.
A standard dab is roughly the size of a grain of rice.
That's all you need to get a nice, full puff, and you'll be surprised at how much oil bubbles up in your bucket when you drop in your dab. With flower, you've got to pack your bowl pretty densely to get more than a couple of good hits.
For some users, the smell of smoke is an instant mood-killer. Depending on where you are and who you're around, it may not always be welcome or acceptable.
Concentrates are your best bet for discreet consumption if you're not in a location conducive to smoking. A little bit goes a long way without producing the telltale smell of lingering smoke. Additionally, vapor disperses much faster than smoke and has a much more subtle scent. It won't stick to your clothes all day, and it won't linger in your hair, on your clothes, or in the air around you.
When you smoke flower, there's a lot of waste. You've got the leftover plant matter and ash to deal with, and that can affect the taste of your product. The combustion process itself can cause some of the more volatile terpenes to be destroyed.
Different terpenes have different boiling points, and some will be lost through the burning process. With dabbing, terpenes are vaporized rather than burned. This way, the flavors are preserved, and the natural taste of the original terpene profile shines through.
Even though the plant material has been stripped away, concentrates help you get closer to the true taste of your particular plant than through combustion. There's no flavor from residual solvents like how you can taste the ash and tar with traditional smoking.
The right dab rig amplifies these flavors even more. Try vaporizing high-quality terps with a miniature dab rig for the best flavors. Less air in the rig means more potent flavor, so that's why MJ Arsenal builds mini dab rigs for those who want to take their dabs to the next level.
It's hard to carry your flower with you, but dabs are small and can be carried discreetly. They don't produce a strong smell, especially if sealed tight in a small container. On the other hand, flower is bulky and noticeable in a pocket or bag. And you can often smell it through bags and plastic containers.
If you know what you're doing, dabs are a quick way to get where you're going. On-the-go dabbers who don't want to waste time packing bowls and dealing with lighters don't have to worry about that. You can use dab pens to make dabbing safe for on-the-go use.
Since it only takes one small dab to feel the full effects of concentrates, you'll get more for your buck. Smoking flower will get expensive quickly, especially if you enjoy it with friends.
By comparison, concentrates are more cost-effective because they last longer. A little bit goes a long way, so you can stretch your product much further than its flower counterpart.
When you're dabbing correctly, you should get at least ten dabs out of a gram of wax or oil. When you're smoking plant matter, a single session can consume far more material than a dab sesh.
Dabbing certainly has its advantages, but so do traditional water pipes. There are tons of potential benefits to water pipe use. Here are just a few:
If you're using flower, water pipes are an absolute must. They allow you to cool down that smoke-intense hit so that it's easier to take into your lungs. Water filters out some of the harsh toxins in your smoke before they reach your mouth and throat, resulting in less lung irritation.
Water filtration is the best way to take your dabs as well. Without a water pipe or any type of filter, you're going to feel those harsh effects on both your throat and lung tissue.
Water pipes go a long way toward cooling down your smoke, but the level of moisture they add is impressive as well. Water acts as a humidifier when you're smoking flower through it, adding moisture back into the air.
This moisture is soothing, since smoke can dry out your throat. It also helps keep your lips from drying and cracking which is a welcome side effect for flower enthusiasts—especially in cold winter months.
Dabbing is great, but the setup required for dabbing makes it less conducive to sharing with a circle of friends. You can't easily pass a rig or torch lighter around without burning somebody's fingers, and using a dab tool is complicated for beginners.
If even one or two people in your group haven't used a dab rig before, it can be intimidating—exactly the opposite of the experience you're going for. Water pipes are more accessible to newbies who are familiar with how traditional glass pipes work. Instead of reheating and reloading a hot nail for each hit, you can load a single bowl of flower and pass it around easily.
You never know when you're going to get a craving for a toke. Sometimes, you need it right away. Water pipes make quick smoke sessions possible since they don't require as much setup or prep time.
A single dab can take 2-3 minutes, whereas a quick and savvy smoker can typically load and puff on a couple of hits in under a minute. A water pipe can be a lifesaver if you want to blaze fast and don't have your rig on hand.
There's no one-size-fits-all type of smoking or dabbing method, so it comes down to your preference. Dabbing is great for people who want to take advantage of the most efficient experience possible, but flower is better suited for casual sharing.
Whether you prefer flower or dab, make sure you have a water pipe handy. You'll benefit from its cooling and moistening effects when using any consumption methods. A miniature dab rig made of borosilicate glass is a great way to stick with your oil and wax while still benefiting from water filtration.
MJ Arsenal's entire line of mini dab rigs is crafted from borosilicate glass, and every rig comes with a premium quartz bucket designed to excel with concentrates. If a water pipe is more your speed, each premium borosilicate glass water pipe includes a compatible flower bowl attachment.
And if you want more choices, we also offer a line of blunt bubblers and vape bubblers for even more creativity and versatility. So get your ideal new rig today.
Novelty dab rigs can also be used for public events or for people who would like to use the piece as a conversation starter.
MJ Arsenal is at the forefront of innovative novelty glassware designs. Our focus is on making high-quality, functional products that are incredibly reliable and easy to use.
We don't just want our customers to have a great time dabbing—we also want them to feel comfortable and confident in the product they’re using every time they spark up.
There are a variety of novelty oil rigs for purchase out there, and if you're looking to get one, here's what you need to know.
As you'd expect, a regular dab rig is a simple, but elegant, water pipe for many smokers. But for people who are unfamiliar with glass dab rigs, there's a lot of confusion over what is and isn't standard.
Technically, anything that's intended to be used with concentrates can be called a dab rig.
But in practice, most people use the phrase to refer to rigs that are designed specifically with concentrates in mind—whether they're rigs, pipes, bubblers, or something else.
A great novelty rig is a simple glass pipe that's been given a twist to turn them into something unique. Novelty rig selections might include custom-made rigs like MJ Arsenal's limited edition Northstar collaboration series.
Novelty rigs can take a variety of shapes, from familiar water pipe designs to all-new accessories that have been designed from the ground up. If you're looking for something that's not only functional but also looks amazing, this is the category you want to be shopping in.
It’s important to have good vibes when you're smoking out of a high-quality dab rig. This means being in a good mood and having positive thoughts. Not only does this make the experience more pleasant, but it also affects the way your dab rig functions.
When you're blazing, it's all about relaxing and enjoying the experience. That's why dabbing with interesting, unique, and shiny dabware can make the experience much more immersive. The best novelty dab rigs are made for that specific experience of smoking high-quality concentrates out of artistic and functional pieces.
When you're looking for a dab rig, it's important to find one that matches your vibe and style. If you want your session to have a certain feeling, the vibes need to match. The overall size and shape of the rig can have a huge impact on how it feels when you use it.
You still want a piece that functions well, but the novelty of your dab rig is a vital part of the experience. If you want to smoke concentrates any time you want and enjoy a special smoking experience, novelty dab rigs are the way to go.
The different enhancements made to the glass can affect how it looks. The arms can be slender or thick, and some pieces have a splash guard. Any of these pieces can make a regular dab rig look more interesting while also improving the device’s function.
And since each additional piece of glass presents another opportunity to be creative, there are almost infinite possibilities for what a rig can look like.
The different features also affect the function of the dab rig. A splash guard, for example, will cut down on the amount of water that comes up from the bowl. This feature also makes it less likely to have a water spill while you're using the rig. Many shapes accomplish the same goal, so there's a lot of variety in form.
For example, the Claude mini dab rig has a more flat, mellow splash guard.
On the other hand, the Gemini mini dab rig has a very pronounced, regal-looking splash guard.
Many glass dab rigs make cool shapes out of the water chamber. This design can make it easier to clean your rig or give you a unique look when the water is bubbling. And when form meets function, it can be a lot of fun to use.
That was the goal behind the limited edition Rigloo mini dab rig.
The Rigloo mini dab rig is a piece that's been shaped from the bottom up to give it a streamlined design, with a wide-based water chamber.
Inside that water chamber is an ice-cool igloo percolator that provides amazing airflow through the rig. It's extra-wide, making it easy to clean and also providing remarkable flavor and airflow for those big hits.
Most novelty dab rigs come in a variety of colors and styles. This variety makes it easy to find a piece that matches your personality and style. It's especially fun to find the perfect dab rig that represents something about your personality. For example, if you think of yourself as bright and bubbly, there are fun rigs with many pinks, purples, and other bright colors.
Limited Edition Apollo Northstar Dab Rig
There are also many off-the-wall color combos to choose from, whether it's a novelty piece or an everyday rig.
Top brands like MJ Arsenal release novelty rigs as limited edition color combinations which can be a good option for those who like to change up their rig every few months or years without getting too attached to one look.
With limited edition novelty rigs, though, you have to move fast because these pieces often sell out quickly and never see the sales shelves again.
At MJ Arsenal, we've been celebrating artisan glassmaking with our limited edition artist series. These are unique designs from some of the best studio artists in glassmaking today. These artists have been blowing incredible clouds since long before dabbing was a trend, and their colorful glasswork is stunning in person.
If you're looking for a rig that looks unique and is easy to personalize, novelty dab rigs are definitely the way to go. With all of the different styles and designs available today, anyone can find something that works for them. And even if you already have an everyday dab rig that functions perfectly fine, it's always fun to switch it up.
There are always new glassware options coming out, but novelty dab rigs are especially popular these days. They're a fun, unique accessory to add to your collection, and MJ Arsenal has great novelty rigs that can be used as everyday dab rigs.
So whether you want something offbeat or more reserved, our novelty dab rigs are perfect for anyone who loves oil.
At MJ Arsenal, blunt bubblers are a hot item right now. These rigs have a big water chamber and a long, tapered receiver.
Insert your joint or blunt to form a seal, and water bubbles in the chamber. A convenient carb hole on the side of the rig gives you total control over your airflow.
Given the high dab prices in many areas, smokers naturally want to conserve their products as much as they can. And that's where terp pearls come in.
Terp pearls increase the surface area inside your heated nail, letting you take bigger, more efficient dabs. They're reusable and easy to clean, and there's a terp pearl for just about every kind of banger design.
Every time a new innovation arrives on the scene, other manufacturers almost immediately pick it up. This helps promote new ideas to a wider audience and also makes for more competition in the industry.
Our newest novelty dab rigs are the perfect example of this. They combine ease-of-use with style and superior functionality to create a great experience for the user.
Vaping rigs are a great way to add some style to your oil rig without sacrificing function. If you like flavorful, smooth hits that go down easy, these are the rigs for you.
MJ Arsenal Vape Edition rigs have specially designed downward-facing receivers for use with your favorite vape cartridges. Vape oils are a nice alternative to more potent dabs, and they're often more affordable than concentrates. We have vaping rigs with beautiful features like fab eggs and double ball percolators.
Buckets aren't all created equal. Some are much easier to work with than others, and that's why MJ Arsenal offers fully-fused quartz buckets in 10mm joint size for all of our rigs.
Premium Full-Weld Clear Quartz Bucket
These buckets have a fully fused quartz connection that adds an extra layer of strength and durability compared to ceramic nails or titanium nails. If you need a bucket that can handle some roughhousing, it's the perfect choice for you.

]]>You just want a dab rig you can vape without worrying about durability or upkeep. But, like most things in life, the more educated you are about your purchase, the more likely you are to buy something you're happy with.
Glassmakers don't just throw these terms around for no reason. The material and makeup of your dab rig and banger directly influence the quality and flavor of your vapor. Knowing what you want and how to get it will improve your experience and help mitigate the hazards of working with high temperatures and sticky residues.
Quartz and borosilicate are two of the prominent glasses you'll find in dab rigs and accessories. Both are used in various industries for many different applications, but they differ significantly in physical properties, performance characteristics, and applications. The effects of time, temperature, pressure, and chemical exposure can be dramatically different for these materials.
It is important to be aware of the specific makeup of a glass item and how this affects performance. After all, if you're going to buy a dab rig that you hold up to your face, you need it to be made of a material that is strong, shock-resistant, safe, and reliable.
Let's go over some of the more important differences between quartz and borosilicate glass and discuss what they mean for your dab rig.
Natural quartz is a mineral composed of silicon dioxide, and its many varieties are semi-precious gemstones. As a result of its abundance and high thermal conductivity, quartz is widely used in many large-scale applications—glass aggregate, abrasives, foundry materials, ceramics, and cement.
Manufactured glass comprises about 75% silica; in contrast, quartz glass is up to 99% silica. It's also called fused silica glass or fused quartz. Crystalline quartz usually looks like clear or cloudy, naturally-occuring crystals that occur naturally. However, encountering this kind of cloudiness in manufactured glass signals impurities and defects.
When heated at suitable temperatures, quartz can be molded like an all-purpose glass. The final product becomes a hard substance with a solid appearance and clear crystal formation. The temperatures required to mold quartz are far higher than the temperatures used to mold glass.
This fundamental difference is why quartz can withstand much higher temperatures than manufactured glass.
Quartz crystals also have piezoelectric properties, which means they can develop electric potential upon the application of mechanical stress. This is why quartz crystals are built into the world's most accurate watches. Don't worry—this doesn't mean your quartz banger can zap you. The electrical pulses are so slight that you can't feel them.
While the electrical properties are a unique component of quartz, they don’t exactly enhance the dabbing experience. Instead, let’s take a look at the different traits of quartz and borosilicate glass that make each material useful for glass dabware.
Typically, we think of durability as "how tough something is." But in glassmaking, durability goes beyond whether or not a material breaks—we also have to consider the different situations that might cause something to break.
For example, you may be regularly handling and passing dabware. It also needs regular cleaning, which requires enough toughness against routine scrubbing and tapping. That’s why borosilicate glass is perfect for miniature dab rigs—it’s strong enough to withstand these different situations without being too expensive.
"Toughness" refers to an object's ability to resist breakage from sudden stress or force, while "hardness" refers to its resistance to scratching. Quartz is among the hardest materials on Earth (although diamond takes the top prize).
For example, you can't scratch quartz with steel, but you can break it. On the other hand, borosilicate glass is a softer material than quartz because steel will definitely scratch it. However, its toughness is comparable to quartz.
In its lifetime, a piece of glass is likely to be broken or chipped at least once. The glassmakers in our network are adamant about the importance of longevity in our materials. The goal is for your glass to maintain its shape and smooth surface for as long as possible.
Another important factor in durability is an object's tensile strength, which is the resistance of a material to breaking under tension. Borosilicate has a rating of 280 megapascals (Mpa), which is high compared to quartz with a mere 50 Mpa.
This data tells us that quartz is harder when compared to borosilicate glass, but quartz is also more brittle. In other words, it breaks rather than bends, so it can't take the stress from multiple directions at once like borosilicate glass. This makes quartz strong enough for rods and joins, but not as functional for thin, narrow supports.
As a result, it's complicated to manufacture small, thin, or narrow quartz pieces, so it's much cheaper to use borosilicate glass as structural glass for pipes and dab rigs.
Heat tolerance refers to an object's ability to withstand temperature changes. Quartz can tolerate extreme temperatures over 1,100° C (2,000° F). On the other hand, borosilicate glass can withstand elevated temperatures up to 700° C (1,300° F).
When the glass begins to soften due to the hot temperature, the material becomes less resistant to pressure. Borosilicate glass is less forgiving than quartz, so it is more likely to crack in ultra-hot conditions. This means that, of the two materials, quartz is more suitable as your dab rig's heating element (the banger) than borosilicate glass.
Quartz is highly stable and thermal shock-resistant—this means it doesn't crack when exposed to rapid changes in temperature.
One of the most important factors for determining durability is whether or not your glass can handle a sudden temperature change. By definition, a thermal shock is a rapid temperature change.
For example, running heated glass under cold water can cause thermal shock. Exposure to high temperatures can lead to thermal expansion. Then, if the glass cools too quickly, it becomes stressed. When a hard material like glass or ceramic experiences a higher temperature shock than it can tolerate, it can shatter and explode violently.
Never attempt to cool off a hot glass piece by running it under a cool liquid. Always allow your glass dab rig and quartz banger to cool slowly until it reaches room temperature.
The word "ductility" refers to an object's ability to be drawn out into a thin wire. Glass is extremely ductile, whereas quartz is not.
When glass is heated, it becomes more malleable and easily deformed without breaking. Quartz, on the other hand, will break before it bends or stretches very much. It's much more brittle than glass, and it takes thicker layers of quartz to form it into a curve or a circle. This makes it more expensive to form into the large, thin orbs and narrow tubes found on most water pipe designs.
For dabbing, borosilicate glass and quartz work well together. Quartz is a far better heating element because it is more resistant to the high temperature than glass, but borosilicate glass is best for the dab rig itself.
The process of making thin, small pieces composed of quartz isn't feasible—it's too expensive, and it's not necessary for the structure of the dab rig anyway. Borosilicate glass is strong enough to act as the structural component of your dab rig and is far easier to mold into small, thin shapes.
Quartz’s natural properties are why it excels for the construction of carb caps and bangers. Meanwhile, borosilicate glass is best used to construct the dab rig’s overall structure.
In a word—no.
In a few more words: plenty of glassmakers will sell you a cheap manufactured glass banger, and it'll do the job for a short time.
However, the properties of manufactured glass increase the risk that it will break down much faster than a true quartz banger. This creates the potential for injury if the glass breaks during use. Incidentally, that's the time when it's most likely to break since you're applying intense heat to the glass.
That's why MJ Arsenal doesn't sell glass bangers. We're not interested in making a quick buck—we want to offer only high-quality, resistant, and durable products that will last for a long time, even with heavy use. Our bangers are made from 100% mineral quartz, so you never have to worry about breaking under normal conditions.
On the other hand, we proudly craft our dab rigs from borosilicate glass. This is what makes our rigs strong, lightweight, and affordable, all at the same time.
It's clear that quartz is far more durable than borosilicate glass, but it's also more difficult and expensive to mold. Borosilicate is strong enough for use in dab rigs without being too expensive, and it's also easy to work with.
With borosilicate glass, you can create both large and small pieces that are thin and versatile. This makes it ideal for use in your dab rig while still maintaining its heat tolerance and thermal shock resistance.
You don't have to choose between borosilicate glass and quartz when you buy an MJ Arsenal dab rig. We use high-quality, reliable components at every stage of the construction process to create products as strong as they are beautiful.

]]>Dab rigs have a few essential parts that you need to know how to use, or else you're likely to find yourself in some awkward social situations.
They're expensive pieces of glassware, and it's important to respect them. It's challenging to know what you should do when you pick up a dab rig for the first time because there isn’t a lot of formalized instruction about how to use one.
To solve this problem, here’s an introduction to dabbing etiquette. Learn the ropes and you’ll be able to avoid embarrassing moments.
The first rule of dabbing etiquette is not to treat it like a smoking flower. Concentrates are much more potent and should be treated with more caution than you would use just smoking plant matter.
Don't be "that guy" by taking too big of a hit, don't take too many hits in succession. You also want to make sure that you're using your equipment responsibly. The last thing you want when trying to have fun is to get overwhelmed by an experience that's too powerful.
While dabbing isn't the same as smoking flower, it can still require clean-up.. To protect your rig and equipment from build-up and residue, make sure that you're keeping your dab station clean and tidy.
You should also keep parchment paper, disposable rags, and some isopropyl alcohol on hand for quick cleanup. Even better, you can get an MJ Arsenal dab mats to control any mess and make cleanup a breeze.
Dirty nails make for dirty hits, and it's a lot harder to hit when there are contaminants on the dab nail itself. If you have your isopropyl on hand, you can keep it ready with a cotton swab when using MJ Arsenal's miniature ISO stations. After you dab, immediately clean your dabbing tools when the rig cools.
If you aren't familiar with the procedure for cleaning your dab gear, read our Complete Guide to Dab Rigs to learn everything you need to know.
It’s so important to wash your hands before handling dab rigs and glassware. Dirt, oils, or other substances on your fingers can stick to the surface of the rig or glassware and build up over time, creating a film that is difficult to remove.
Dabs are sticky, and if you drop them on your carpet or couch, they can leave a stain that is impossible to remove. Even if you get the dab unstuck from your upholstery, lint or dust from the fabric will cling to the sticky concentrates. To avoid this, use a dab tray or dab mat to keep concentrates off of your surfaces.
Dabs are expensive too. You shouldn’t ruin them by getting dirty with lint and dirt. So, MJA’s dab mats can make handling concentrates easy, preserve your dabs, and protect your furniture all at once.
Glass rigs and accessories can get very hot, so be sure to handle them with care. It's important not to touch the rig until it has cooled down enough for your skin to withstand the heat without getting burned. This can take 10 to 15 minutes, though it could be longer.
Your nail, carb cap, and dab tools all may be hot as well, so be careful that you don't accidentally burn yourself. If someone else's nail or dab tool is too hot to handle safely, ask them to use a fresh one when it's your turn.
While nobody's using the rig, you should keep it in a safe location.
Be sure to place it somewhere where no one can trip over it or bump into it while passing by, and always exercise caution when moving it around during use.
Accidentally dropping your rig can break the piece and cause nasty spills.
When using glass rigs, it's a good idea to grab hold of the rig by the base or handle rather than the mouthpiece.
Not only is touching the mouthpiece unsanitary, but you're more likely to drop the rig if you lose your grip. When you're taking fat rips of potent concentrates, you never know when a coughing fit might strike—you don't want to drop the rig because you weren't holding it correctly.
A dab rig isn't the easiest thing to handle by yourself, so don't be afraid to ask if you ever need help from a friend.
If you're new to dab rigs, you might have an easier time by letting your more experienced friend heat the nail for you to achieve proper low-temp dabs.
As a seasoned dabber, you might have more success getting massive hits by taking the reins and heating the nail yourself.
Either way, working in tandem with someone else is a great way to get the most out of your dab rig experience.
A good dab buddy knows how to handle a rig and is willing to care for their glassware.
So, if you want your friends or guests to treat your gear with respect when they're over, set an example by cleaning up after each dab session and putting away all glassware so it's not in the way.
Demonstrate your respect and friendliness by being a good dab buddy. Pass on the torch to your friends, and set an example for fellow dab enthusiasts.
If you want to have a good time with your friends, take good care of your dab rigs. Keep things clean and be careful, and your dab sessions will flow smoothly. The bottom line is that everyone in your group can enjoy an excellent dabbing experience simply by following some basic rules for using glassware properly.
Using a convenient miniature dab rig can also make the experience much more manageable. They're more affordable and easier to store safely, making them the perfect choice for a group dab sesh.
You can follow rule #10 by being equipped with the best glassware for friends to share, so pick up a stylish MJ Arsenal mini dab rig before they sell out again.
]]>The problem is that concentrates are more delicate than plant matter. Dabs are more potent, but you'll waste a majority of this added potency if you don't tightly regulate your vaporization temperature.
To get the best results from your concentrates, you must find the ideal temperature for vaporization. Here's a breakdown of the best temperature zones for dabbing so you can find your sweet spot.
Concentrates won't fully vaporize at a temperature lower than 300°F. At low temperatures, dabs will start to liquefy and seep through your rig like syrup. They'll hit the glass and pool into puddles that will gunk up your quartz banger.
Begin heating it again and restart your countdown if you let your rig cool too much before adding your dab. Dabbing at such a low temperature will just melt your wax.
Above 350°F, you can start getting consistent hits and good vapor. This is the low temp dab zone where you get more flavor retention and control over your hits. With a low temperature dab, you'll get smoother hits.
Many users prefer low temp dabs because it isn't harsh on your throat or lungs. Low temperature dabbing also makes it easier to conserve your concentrates. However, you have to be careful how much you're loading at one time.
At 600°F, you'll start to enter the high temp zone where your dabs will be more potent and milky. You'll lose some flavor with a high temp dab, but it's less likely that you'll leave behind oils when dabbing at such high temperature ranges.
High temp dabs also produce more vapor and clouds. You'll want to start with smaller hits because it's easy to overdo it. Dabs will go from liquid to vapors in microseconds, so high temperature dabs are perfect once you're used to larger hits.
There's a reason that most dab pens and e-nails top off around 850°F.
Above 900-1000°F, the air temperature in the banger becomes too hot and burns off the active ingredients as they're released from the concentrate. At these “too-high” temperatures, you'll create a lot of vapor, but the quality will suffer, and you'll waste a lot while consuming little.
Waste isn't the only problem. When you dab at such a high heat, vapor will still be recondensing from gas to liquid form when it reaches the mouthpiece. This can lead to a sticky residue in your mouth, phlegm, and coughing.
At the perfect temperature, some vapor will condense inside the rig—that’s why it gets dirty—but it should be cool enough by the time the remaining vapor reaches the mouthpiece.
The perfect temperature for a dab starts at a low 350°F. With the optimal temperature, you'll get smooth hits and retain maximum flavor. If you go too hot, you'll lose some of the primary flavors. But if you're using dense concentrates that need to be heated up, then 600°F is an ideal temperature to start.
Above 600°F, you'll get thicker hits that are less flavorful. This is still vapor, though, and it's healthier than smoking regular flower. If you're using waxes or shatters, then 800°F can get the job done without wasting any concentrate. Even if you go this hot, your terps will still be decarboxylated without burning off.
Quartz bangers retain heat well, and you'll find that some bangers cool faster than others, depending on their size and shape.
Getting the temperature just right takes a little experimentation and depends on the oils you’re dabbing. The best way to find the right temp is to use the countdown method. It’s a way to estimate your temperature based on the time it takes to vape. You can use a stopwatch or a phone, or just count out loud.
Here’s how the countdown method works:
There's a little more to temping your dabs than firing up and counting down. Here are a few other important tips to keep in mind for the cleanest, tastiest rips:
Don't just focus the heat on the bottom of the dish. Heat will transfer up the cooler sides of the glass, resulting in a longer heat-up time and inconsistent temperatures between different faces of the banger.
Heat around the sides of the banger and the bottom. If you see the flame bouncing off the glass, the heat is doing the same thing—use the far end of the flame to warm your banger, so it's catching all of the heat.
Refill your torch often. If the flame is weak or flickering, your butane fuel is low. When torches are low on fuel, they produce less-powerful flames that take longer to heat your rig. And if you like high-temp dabs, you may not heat your banger to the temperatures you're used to, resulting in cooler hits.
You can't just use any butane lighter to heat your dab rig. The flame isn't powerful enough. You can forget about Zippos or other naphtha lighters since these don't produce enough heat.
A butane torch keeps fuel under pressure so it fires much hotter than a disposable lighter. You can find inexpensive torches designed specifically for dabbing, but you can get by with a torch designed for culinary use, too. As with any tool or accessory, your mileage may vary depending on the brand you choose.
Dabbing with an e-nail can be more convenient than using a torch. When you're ready to dab, you load a dab into the e-nail and connect it to your downstem.
This way of heating up is cleaner and more efficient. Using a torch can result in accidents because of the open flame. The only thing you will need for this process is a dab rig with a matching receiver.
MJ Arsenal offers a precise, premium-quality e-nail for 10mm and 14mm glassware that you can use to convert any traditional waterpipe into a powerful dab rig. The G Pen Connect is a battery-powered portable device that heats your dabs to one of three different temperature settings in just five seconds.
Cold start dabbing is a way of preloading dabs and heating them to a low temperature. This method is good for small hits and if you want to stretch out your stash.
This method works best for concentrates that vaporize at lower temperatures. High-temp concentrates will get sticky and start decarbing before you can see vapor, making it easy to waste a lot of your dab.
You can use a cold start banger specially designed to control heat distribution to make cold start dabs easier. MJ Arsenal's new premium quartz banger release includes a series of cold start bangers optimized for low-temp dabbing perfection.
Dabbing at the right temperature can be tricky, but once you find the best temp you'll see how much better your dabs taste and feel. By preheating your banger with an open flame and following our simple tips, we hope to make this technique easier to master.
Remember, you need to experiment with different temperatures to find what works best for the type of concentrate you're dabbing. Spending a little more time dialing into your rig's temp can help you get big, tasty clouds every time.
Always be sure to use the best tools and accessories for the job, like a proper torch and high-quality dab rig. MJ Arsenal is your one-stop-shop for dab glassware, gear, and accessories, including bangers, e-nails, and more. Grab an opaque-dish cold-start banger and a bubble cap to take your dabs to the next level.]]>Need to find what you're looking for in a pinch? What You’ll Need to Get Started
Dabbing is a method of vaping extracts or oils. It involves heating the extract to a high temperature, usually with a special water pipe called a dab rig. People who use these pipes are called “dabbers.” The best dab rig products are generally made from glass and come in various designs to suit personal preferences.
Dabbing helps promote proper airflow for maximal vaporization, giving users increased control of their hit. You can use it as an alternative to smoking plant matter, which some users find harsh and unpleasant.
In this complete guide to dab rigs, you’ll learn exactly what you need to enjoy concentrates, how innovative dab rig technology works, and the essential tools you’ll need to get started with this portable, smoother, cooler, and more flavorful method of consuming plant matter.
The process of extracting an herb is nothing new, and infusions themselves have been used for thousands of years. Traditional recipes that once lined the shelves in U.S. pharmacies during the 1800s became potent oral medicinals as time progressed.
Although these practices laid a foundation for solvent-based extraction methods, manufacturing products intended for consumption through vaporization first appeared during the Great Depression era.
Through the 1970s, oils became more popular in the U.S., thanks to The Brotherhood of Eternal Love, an organization that introduced oils from Afghanistan.
Today, these concentrates don’t look much different than they did at their inception. That said, they have changed over time. The production of extracts in the U.S. evolved from crude practices like open-blasting to safe, highly-controlled lab methods like the advanced closed-loop extraction system.
Smoking flower has been a cultural exercise for thousands of years. For some, the act of rolling up and smoking plant material is enjoyable. However, others find smoking plant material harsh, unpleasant, and overwhelming.
Dabbing is a smoother and more potent alternative to smoking flower — especially for those who don't enjoy the harshness of inhaling smoke. Dab rigs provide smokers with more precise control over what they consume and offer increased potency compared to other consumption methods.
Dabbing is smoother, more flavorful, and easier on the throat than smoking flower. It gives you a very robust terpene profile. On the other hand, flower has its own unique flavors. You'll never get closer to the plant's original flavor profile than you will with the plant matter itself.
However, modern labs today have innovative extraction methods that enable them to preserve terpenes in their oils. This gives high-grade extracts a more potent flavor than they've ever had before.
As the dabbing craze continues to grow in popularity, there are more ways than ever to enjoy modern concentrates.
Some people prefer dabbing outdoors because it’s convenient and discreet. Others enjoy dabbing at home because they have more freedom over their environment and choice of device.
Dab pens are the ultimate on-the-go solution. These battery-powered devices provide smokers with the convenience of dabbing in any setting without having to worry about carrying around a torch or heating an expensive rig.
Dab pens are small and lightweight, making them easy to store in pockets. These pens are compact, discreet, and convenient — perfect for a quick vape after work or before a day at the golf course.
However, dab pens have their drawbacks. They are not very powerful, and they don't offer a lot of control. Additionally, the batteries burn through a lot of power. Even the best vape batteries on the market lose their charge after a few sessions. This is problematic because a weak battery vapes your oils inefficiently, causing lots of sticky, wasteful residue.
Dab rigs are water pipes that allow you to consume your favorite concentrate or oil without using combustion. They're specially made for vaping concentrates like wax, shatter, or rosin since these substances are too oily to smoke like traditional plant matter.
Technically speaking, a dab rig simply refers to a mechanism that enables you to load and vaporize oils through your pipe. The pipe itself is a normal water pipe in its own right. As long as you have a slide piece for dabbing that fits your water pipe, you can use that pipe as a dab rig.
There are a few drawbacks to using standard water pipes as your primary dab rig, though. Namely, the quality of your vapor will not be as pure and flavorful as it could be. You'll also end up wasting more product because you can't control your temperature as accurately, which is far more critical when vaping concentrates than it is when smoking plant matter.
This is why there are water pipes designed explicitly for dabbing, and these are the pipes you're hearing about when you hear your friends talk about their cool new dab rigs.
They differ from traditional water pipes primarily by having smaller chambers and more narrow channels. This promotes a higher-pressure vapor with increased flavor, which is perfect for vaping concentrates. Glass dab rigs are the most popular, especially compared to silicon dab rigs.
Dabbing doesn't use combustion, but it still uses fire. You heat an element like titanium or quartz with a blowtorch and add your concentrate to use a dab rig.
This intense heat causes the concentrate to vaporize and release its flavors immediately. It's also what decarboxylates your concentrates so that they achieve their full potency.
Inhaling through the rig draws the vapor through the water to filter and cools off any particulates that might cause lung irritation.
Every dab rig is unique, each with its own characteristics and features. They range from just a few inches to a couple of feet in height (although the latter sizes are a bit ridiculous). Dab rigs can feature different designs and internal mechanisms to enhance your vaping sessions.
These are just a few of the different styles of dab rigs you can find.
One thing that separates dab rigs from one another is their airflow style. Airflow refers to how air moves through your pipe and what kinds of draw resistance you experience while vaping.
Here are a few types of dab rigs you might see out there:
Recycler dab rigs come with a chamber that holds water and a separate connected chamber. As you hit your dab rig, water cycles in a loop through both chambers before returning into the reservoir when you exhale. This means the water filtering your vapor is constantly moving through separate areas to keep it as cool and clear as possible.
Recycler rigs typically have a single or double uptake, meaning they can have one or two pathways carrying vapor from the water chamber to the mouthpiece. Single uptake dab rigs are often more compact and affordable, but double uptake dab rigs offer smoother airflow.
An incycler is a recycler rig with the second chamber built inside of the first. They serve the same purpose, but an incycler design enables a more compact shape. However, incyclers are more challenging to clean since it's difficult to access the innermost chambers of the rig. They also require some of the most advanced levels of craftsmanship to produce such a function correctly.
Klein Incycler dab rigs were designed with a "Klein weld" that makes them like hybrids of external and internal recyclers. The cycle doesn't simply loop from top to bottom but also travels through another duct before looping back inside through another side opening. This added pathway reduces splashback, particularly in compact dab rigs.
Fab Egg dab rigs are eye-catching incyclers designed to offer an even smoother and milder sensation. They're great for dabbers who are more sensitive to inhalation.
The Fab Egg rig is perfect for dabbing because the restrictive chambers control water flow and enhance internal pressure. The smooth body shape helps the vapor taste more mild, only releasing pure flavor without any impurities.
Dab rigs can have a simple or complex design. A simpler model might be made of just two pieces, while more complicated models could require up to five different parts to function properly.
Dab rigs with fewer parts are typically more affordable and user-friendly. However, the more advanced features you read about when shopping for dab rigs make a significant difference in your experience.
For example, a fab egg rig or a double uptake incycler offers you a smoother draw, but they cost more and tend to be more fragile. Note that you won't find any of these unique inner chambers in a silicone dab rig.
There are also dab rigs you can opt for that feature unique, innovative, high quality designs. These rigs are often hand-blown and may be more expensive than other options you might find in a headshop or online marketplace. However, they’re also one of the unique ways to show off your personality through vaping.
MJArsenal is a company that continues to introduce new innovative, high-quality dab rigs, including the Apollo and the Gemini. These dab rig designs are inspired by man's missions to space, demonstrated through its characteristic planetary shapes. The function remains smooth and consistent as expected, thanks to MJArsenal's superior glass dab rig construction.
Terpenes degrade rapidly from overexposure to oxygen. Smaller dab rigs are the way to go for those who want a smoother, more flavorful experience. The smaller water chambers restrict airflow and allow dabbers to taste their concentrates in all of their natural glory.
If you're new to dabs, there are a few essentials that will help make your first time easier and more enjoyable. Dab rig kits provide everything needed for an efficient session: a dabber tool, a quartz or titanium nail, a dome or carb cap, and a convenient carrying case for your rig and accessories.
If you prefer, you can buy each of these pieces individually. Just make sure that the nail, banger, or bucket you select fits the receiver on your dab rig.
Glass dab rigs typically come with at least one part — the rig itself — but they usually include at least one slide piece. Usually, dab rigs tend to have a quartz or titanium nail inserted into the female connection of your rig and heat up during use. You might also get a banger or a bucket with your oil rig.
Some specialty or limited edition sets will also include catchers for concentrates or flower. Maybe even nails that match the style and color of the glass dab rig. Don't expect most silicone rigs to come with a carb cap or a dab tool, either. On the other hand, specific dab rigs, like the MJArsenal Mini Jig, have unique features like built-in storage chambers for your concentrates. This feature is more commonly found on a silicone rig, making the Mini Jig mini-rig a rarity among miniature glass dab rigs.
Besides the wax rig, there are a handful of crucial tools you won't be able to dab without. Let’s look at some of the essential and optional components for your ideal dabbing session.
The slide piece that goes into the receiver on your dab rig isn't quite like the bowl found in a traditional water pipe. Instead, a dab rig uses an element that retains super-hot temperatures to vaporize your concentrates on contact instantly—this element is called a banger.
A banger is a deep bucket fused to a stem that connects to your dab rig. This design helps contain messy oils and makes it easier to take large puffs.
The best bangers are made of quartz instead of glass to ensure better heat retention and shock tolerance.
Even in a pinch, there's no effective way to consume concentrates with a traditional bowl piece. You'll need a banger for your dab rig to efficiently and adequately consume oils. Quartz bangers from MJA enhance flavor for a superior experience, especially when compared to titanium or glass nails.
MJ Arsenal developed its own line of quartz bangers for dab rigs featuring a range of weld styles to meet different preferences. For beginners, a fully-fused banger is a durable choice that's easy to use. Learn more about what makes quartz the obvious choice for your dab rig.
It seems counterintuitive, but vaporizing concentrates requires a hotter and more intense flame than smoking plant matter. If the flame is too cool, you'll decarboxylate your product, but you won't release vapors from the oily concentrates. If you apply too hot a flame directly to the concentrates, you'll fry them into oblivion.
This is why it's best to flash-vaporize concentrates on a superheated surface. However, disposable butane lighters and petroleum distillate (lighter fluid) don't generate enough heat from their low-powered flames for this.
You need a pressurized butane torch to heat your nail or banger to the best temperatures for dabbing. Inexpensive, reliable torches built just for dabbing are inexpensive, and butane refills cost just a few dollars while lasting for several fill-ups.
Dab tools are metal rods with flattened ends. You use it to touch your concentrates to the hot surface of your nail or banger, vaporizing them instantly.
These tools are inexpensive, and you can find one in any vape shop. However, it's easy to lose and even easier to get it covered in dirt and lint. That's why it's a great idea to keep your dabber tools in a dab station.
Accessories such as carb caps or terp pearls can enhance your dabbing experience, making it more personal and enjoyable. A barebones dab rig will cool your vapor, but these dab rig staples will help you achieve better flavor, dab on the go, keep your dabbing experience safe, customize your temperature settings, and more.
Let’s take a look at the most popular must-have dab accessories from MJArsenal.
A carb cap goes on top of your nail or banger. It helps you to conserve vapor and produce more flavor by restricting airflow during your hits.
Terp pearls are tiny, heat-sensitive beads that can be added to your banger, as seen here.
Terp pearls are an affordable way to enhance your dabbing sessions by amplifying the flavor of your concentrates. These functional accessories can also make your banger look more colorful if you opt for the synthetic ruby designs.
You can also use a carb cap to control the size of your dab hits by either using it as a splash guard or leaving space for extra air when you inhale.
A dab station is a place to store all of your dabbing accessories. It's the best way to ensure that you always have what you need in one easy place.
They're made with flat silicone surfaces that are easy to clean and include dishes for concentrates, racks or cups for dabber tools, and dedicated trays for hot bangers and nails.
Dropdowns are simple devices that extend the heating element further away from your body, making your dabs a little bit safer.
A carrying case is a convenient way to store and transport your rig. It also protects it from knocks, scratches, or spills while you're on the go.
Glass jars are the best material for storing concentrates because they're inert and won't react with your oils. However, glass is fragile and can break if dropped. If you need to travel, silicone containers help protect against bumps or spills while being easy to clean out when necessary.
E-nails and e-rigs are the most advanced tool for dabbing available. They're more expensive and a little trickier to use, but they offer benefits that make them worth it in many cases.
E-nails are electronic dab rigs with a coil around their tip that heats to the temperature you set. That means no more guessing when your nail is ready for dabs or waiting on it to heat up enough — you can even customize your temperature to different settings depending on the concentrates you're dabbing.
You can set your desired temperature with an e-nail, so you don't have to worry about accidentally heating too much or not enough. They're also much safer because you don't have an open flame to worry about, and it's easier to control your dabbing experience with one.
An iso station is a small container where you'll need to soak your terp pearls or other tools after each use. It's built to keep soaked cotton swabs on hand so you can clean the dirty surfaces of your dabbing gear that are too large to submerge.
It's an essential part of proper dabbing that helps keep your equipment clean and ensures it stays in good condition for longer without losing quality.
Dab rigs can be a bit difficult to work with, but the learning curve is worth it. You'll need to know how to set up your rig correctly to not only have an enjoyable experience but also for safety purposes too.
Use enough water so that the bottom of your downstem is submerged. MJ Arsenal prints recommended water levels on the box of each of our mini dab rigs. You can use this as a guide to make sure you’re getting exactly the right amount of water in your rig.
Depending on your rig, you may need to adjust the amount of water used. If your rig has a percolator, you'll need to use enough water for bubbles to form and help to break down your concentrates.
If you don’t have an MJ Arsenal dab rig, check with the manufacturer to make sure you use the right water level. Or better yet, give one of our mini dab rigs a try!
A huge question for new dabbers can be which nail to use. There is no one-size-fits-all answer, but some general advice may help first-time users decide what they want out of their personal experience with nails.
Different connection types and sizes are male or female (depending on connection), with an 8 millimeter, 10 millimeters, or 14-millimeter fitting. Some require additional securing using silicon bands. At MJ Arsenal, we use 10mm connections.
The nail type you choose depends on which dab oil you like best and how much heat your torch can produce, and what kind of accessories (carb caps) one may want to add to their nail.
To make sure that your dab rig does not tip over, find a stable work area. Remember that you will be dealing with hot flames and sticky residues, so put protection on the work surface and get ready for any messes.
Here’s how the process works:
Your concentrates will flash vaporize upon contact with the nail. Begin inhaling immediately to avoid letting any vapor go to waste. Many individuals prefer to inhale with the carb cap on top of their banger to control airflow. However, this is up to your individual preferences.
Dabbing is a great way to experience the plant and accumulate its active compounds efficiently. Once you’ve finished, set the carb cap aside and let your rig cool down. As the nail is engineered for active use at high temperatures, it retains heat well but only for a short period and cools down somewhat quickly.
Caution: Do not run hot glass dab rigs or quartz bangers under cool water to try and cool them down more quickly. While this is enticing, the sudden temperature shift may permanently harm your equipment or even cause it to shatter.
Reclaimed oil is the leftover wax from previous dabbing sessions that get stuck to oil rigs. This might result from not using enough water or inhaling too hard, or pulling some oil into your dab rig.
The first method is to drain your rig's water and then pick out the little goldish chunks. The bulk of reclaim will be attached to the inside of your dab rig, so there won't be many of these pieces.
The second method of collecting reclaim is to melt it down and recycle it. All you need is a heat source (hair dryers work great) and some wax paper to do this:
The idea of recycling your concentrates without waste is appealing, but there are a few advantages and disadvantages to each.
Based on this, you can decide if it’s worth it for you to reclaim dab. Keep in mind that most dabbers don’t bother with it, but it’s undoubtedly a great way to get your fix in a pinch if you can’t get to the store to grab fresh dabs.
Your dab rig will inevitably get dirty, but this doesn’t mean it should go neglected. Cleaning out any leftover wax and then properly cleaning the glass is essential to enjoying fresh dabs.
If you leave your dab rig sitting out dirty for too long, moist residues trapped inside can begin to mold.
The best way to clean oil rigs after dabbing is by filling the dab rig with hot water, which loosens up residue from oils on the surface of the glass. Every time you take a dab, the residue will build upon your glass, and it can be hard to clean fully if you’re not maintaining it in an ongoing manner.
While hot water should do the trick for light cleaning, it won't work as well if your dab rig is all caked up with thick chunks of dried oil accumulated over time. In these cases, you can use 90% isopropyl alcohol to help break down these chunks. Leave the alcohol in the dab rig for at least an hour, and then wash it with water before using it again.
You can also use a pipe cleaner or cotton swab to remove residue from the inside of your dab rig by dragging it around. To remove stubborn clogs, consider dipping one in alcohol.
If you don't have any rubbing alcohol handy, you can also add lots of salt to some hot water. This helps to break down the oils, and gently shaking your dab rig around will help the abrasive salt knock chunks free from the inside of the glass.

But just because concentrates are popular, doesn't mean they're easy to store and preserve.
There are many different types of concentrate with varying storage needs, and knowing how to store them is crucial if you want to preserve potency and shelf life.
This guide will walk you through what you need to know about storing your concentrate collection so it's ready when you are!
Different types of concentrates can be confusing for new users, so let's start with the basics.
The word "dabs" is short for dabbing. It refers to the process of using high heat to run concentrates through a pipe and produce vapor that you inhale. The term “dab” also refers to the concentrates themselves.
Storing concentrates is easy, but each type holds different concentrate containers for short-term storage and long-term storage.
Generally, they all store best in a cool and dark place. Oilier concentrates like live sauce or wax are best kept in glass containers since they’re more airtight, helping to preserve their moisture and texture.
You can keep sturdier, less-aqueous concentrates like shatter or crumble in a simple glass container. If you’re able to buy them, these usually come in wax-wrapped parchment paper and you can store them in an airtight container.
Budder is a form of concentrate processed using solvents such as butane or propane. It boasts a texture like butter, which is where it got the name.
When properly stored in an airtight container with no light exposure, the budder will last a long time without losing potency.
Live Sauce is a type of concentrate produced by using sub-zero temperatures to preserve terpenes while low-temperature butane extraction is used to separate the active ingredients from the plant matter.
The end product contains terpenes, but no inert plant substances, making it smell and taste like fresh, rich herb!
Live sauce needs very little care to stay potent without any degradation. Just keep it in a silicone container or small glass container, and it'll be nice and safe. Keep it in the fridge for best results.
Crumble is a form of concentrate processed using solvents such as butane or propane. It boasts a texture like baked cookie dough, hence its name.
Properly stored in an airtight container with no light exposure, crumble lasts up to six months without losing any potency. It may last longer, but most retailers label crumble with half-year expiration periods.
Wax is a form of concentrate processed using solvents such as butane or propane. It boasts a texture like candle wax, hence its name.
When properly stored in an airtight container with no light exposure, the wax will last up to six months without losing potency.
Because of its looser, oilier consistency, it loses potency faster than other concentrates, so be sure to use your dabs/wax as soon as possible.
Shatter is a form of concentrate processed using solvents such as butane or propane. It has a texture like hard candy that shatters like glass, hence its name. Because of its color and consistency, people commonly mistake shatter for wax.
If you store shatter in an airtight container with no light exposure, it will last for years without losing potency. Keep the concentrates folded up in some parchment paper inside the receptacle since it quickly gets sticky when you touch it with your fingers.
Live sugar is typically made by taking fresh herb and packing it in an enclosed space (such as a tube), and producing pressure. The terps are then heated to release the vapors into the room before they're cooled down and condensed on contact with anything cold.
Storing live sugar is easy because it doesn't require special containers. All you need is an airtight glass jar kept away from light, and it will last up to 6 months. For best results, keep refrigerated.
When using this concentrate, make sure you use an oil rig with a quartz, titanium, or ceramic nail—it's also common to mix it in with a liquidy or oily concentrate to avoid scorching the powder too quickly.
Diamonds are a form of concentrate processed using solvents such as butane or propane, before freezing. The final product features a texture like small diamond crystals.
You should plan to store diamonds in an airtight container away from light exposure and they’ll easily last up to six months without losing potency.
Note however that like crumble, diamonds may last longer. However, dispensaries typically label them for use inside of six months to a year, and it’s common to experience loss of potency after a few months.
Live budder uses a processing method that preserves the aromatic terpenes found in fresh resin. This makes it more flavorful and aromatic than other types of concentrates.
Store your live budder in a silicone container and keep it away from heat (in the refrigerator is your best bet). It should last up to a year without losing its potency.
Live resin sauce is one of the most exciting concentrates that you can dab. The liquid part, called HTE, contains high terpene content compared to other extracts. This profile makes it perfect for flavor seekers because its potency will enhance the taste.
Store it in the fridge away from humidity or excess moisture, which can cause the raw material to become unusable over time. Also, plan to keep your concentrates stored in their original packaging until you’re ready to use them since exposure may affect potency levels.
While it sounds similar to live resin (and it sort of is), live rosin is slightly different in that it doesn't require any chemical solvents for extraction
The process of making rosin starts with a flower and the use of heat and pressure to extract terpenes (which gives your flower its pungent aroma).
To store your live rosin extract, make sure to keep it away from humidity or moisture, which could otherwise render it into a sticky, unusable mess. The refrigerator is a safe place that’ll maintain your rosin’s texture.
RSO stands for Rick Simpson Oil, and it's a form of alcohol-based tincture. Extraction uses a natural solvent like grain alcohol to strip desired chemicals from the plant.
This is very similar to syringe oils, which are liquid extracts made with various solvents and used in many different ways: vaporizers, edibles, etc.
To properly store your edible extracts, keep them sealed in an airtight mason jar or sealed food bag away from light and heat.
The best way to store your dabs is in a sealed glass container. If you don't have any, try to find a reclosable plastic container, a silicone jar, or something similar.
It's important to remember that not all containers are created equal, so make sure whatever you use can withstand the pressure of heat and cold temperatures over time without breaking down — this will help preserve the potency of your extracts!
]]>You could get a customized piece, or perhaps opt for something small and colorful. No matter what your style is, there are dozens of pieces you could choose from and make your own. But when choosing a dab rig, size is a good place to start.
This leaves you with two options: Miniature dab rigs and standard-sized rigs.
Although they have the same function, many people decide to invest in mini dab rigs because of their numerous benefits. Despite their compact size, mini dab rigs pack a tighter punch than their normal-sized counterpart.
Having made a splash in the early 2000s, dab rigs are relatively new to the market. This glassware is noticeably smaller than bongs, although they seem to share a similar shape and overall aesthetic features.
However, when you get a little closer and compare the two, you can quickly see that dab rigs and bongs are not interchangeable at all.
For starters, dab rigs are designed to smoke vaporized concentrated substances. Bongs, on the other hand, are used for smoking the actual flower or herbs. So, while they may look similar, their function is entirely different.
Many experienced smokers tend to prefer dab rigs for their more potent flavoring and quicker effects.
You can also choose from several shapes and sizes within the dab rig realm, and one of the best options are mini dab rigs. Only a few inches tall, mini dab rigs are significantly smaller. Ironically, these miniature pieces pack a large and potent punch on the dab rig experience scale.
Dab rigs are great glassware pieces for smoking because they offer a fuller experience, drag-free smoking sessions, and maximum flavor and potency.
Even so, users can choose from two sizes: Miniature and regular. While miniature dab rigs and normal-sized rigs essentially function the same way, there are apparent differences in how they serve you.
The most important reason that people use dab rigs is because of the concentrated potency. Users can achieve a more flavorful and effective taste using dab rigs compared to other glassware. What’s even better is that mini dab rigs are more compact, which means that they can elevate any smoking experience even further.
Here’s how: Since mini dab rigs are considerably smaller, they have less space for smoke, vapor, and water to travel through. When it comes to dab rigs, less is more because less air equals more flavor, and more flavor means more potency.
You can certainly get a better taste with higher potency using regular-sized dab rigs. However, if you’re looking for the best-tasting experience, opt for a mini dab rig.
If you’re new to using dab rigs, then portability might not be something you’ve yet considered—but it’s good to have a piece that’s quick to stow away and easy transport when bringing it to a smoke sesh with some friends.
While regular size dab rigs can vary in size, mini dab rigs are considered “compact-sized” because they usually measure around 10 inches in height. A smaller rig means it’s easier to pack away, so you can store it or bring it wherever you’d like.
Although you want the best of the best, price becomes an essential factor at some point. Dab rigs of any size are an excellent investment for any concentrate smoker, but it’s okay to be on the lookout for something of high quality that also doesn’t break the bank.
Regular-sized dab rigs can range anywhere from $30 to over $100. Unfortunately, the cheaper the dab rig, the cheaper the quality. That’s why it’s good to look at getting a dab rig as an investment because you’ll have years of use with higher-quality glassware. Additionally, some dab rigs can reach up to $200 (or much more) depending on whether you’re getting a custom-made piece.
Mini dab rigs, on the other hand, are smaller and are therefore less expensive. Many typical quality pieces only cost around $60. Plus, tools and accessories are cheaper: Since there’s less material required to manufacture accessories, like nails and cases, you can expect to pay less when stocking up for your smoking experience.
So, which is better: Mini rigs or regular rigs?
Mini dab rigs are better because of their higher potency, portability, and lower prices. But perhaps the most critical selling point is that mini dab rigs draw out more flavor than other regular rigs due to their compact size. Remember, compact rigs mean less air and that results in more flavor on every pull.
Mini dab rigs are better equipped and designed to handle high potency concentrates and extracts, so if the quality of your flavor experience is essential to you, then mini dab rigs are a better option.
When choosing between mini dab rigs and normal-sized rigs, it’s always a good idea to have at least one mini rig in your collection. Although smaller, these pieces function the same— arguably even better—than their regular-sized counterparts because of three significant factors:
First, it’s good to become familiar with dab rigs. This guide will cover important points, like:
Let’s get right into it.
There are tons of dab rigs on the market, but different kinds have their own benefits and drawbacks. The most important ones are also the most common types that you’ll find in almost any glass shop. These include types like glass rigs, mini rigs, silicone rigs, recycler rigs, and e-rigs.
Glass dab rigs are among the most popular types of rigs you could buy. No matter which shop you walk into, chances are you’ll see dozens of glass rigs of all shapes and sizes.
There’s a good reason for this: Glass rigs are made from borosilicate glass, which are designed to be strong, durable, and heat-resistant. This makes them perfect for beginners of any kind.
This versatile and dependable rig is a perfect combination of quality and value while also offering a wide temperature range. Having the ability to control your rig’s temperature is especially helpful because if the nail gets too hot, then the vapor won’t taste right.
Getting to the right temperature can be tricky when you’re using handheld torches, so this factor is appealing to many users. Glass rigs also offer the best flavor, especially if you’re using a mini glass rig.
The downside: Glass rigs require frequent and vigorous cleaning depending on how often you plan to use them.
Mini dab rigs can come in any material, but the most common ones are glass mini dab rigs. They are essentially just smaller versions of standard-sized rigs at under 7 inches tall. Mini rigs may be small, but they pack a punch with each hit and feature an intricate aesthetic.
So, are small dab rigs better? This is subjective, but the fact is that mini rigs tend to have better hits. This small piece packs less air, which means more flavor—and lots of percolation. They’re perfect for smokers who prefer something simple, or perhaps somebody who doesn’t smoke very often at all.
The downside: Mini rigs also typically require frequent and vigorous cleaning. However, their compact size also makes it harder to get clean with brushes and pipe cleaners.
Silicone dab rigs are convenient, inexpensive, and work well with various glass and quartz accessories.
Silicone rigs are durable, long-lasting pieces that can take a lot of wear and tear. The best part about these rigs is that they can easily be broken down for easy cleaning or even placed in the dishwasher.
The downside: You’re bound to lose some flavor with each smoking session. If convenience and price are essential points, then sacrificing a bit of flavor with a silicone rig will be well worth the investment.
Recycler rigs are unique because of their internal glasswork design, which offers the absolute smoothest way to take dabs every time. Recycler rigs are called as such because they “recycle” smoke through the percolator multiple times before it reaches you. That results in a smooth, cool, and effective hit each time.
Recycler rigs are typically made of glass, and they nearly always offer a very unique and cool interior aesthetic. Many users like how the smoke travels multiple times through the tubes as it finally makes its way through the mouthpiece. Aside from that, recycler rigs are unique, durable, and these strong pieces guarantee quality hits every time.
The downside: Because of their intricate mechanism design, recycler rigs are usually more expensive than standard or miniature rigs. Plus, since the smoke gets recycled several times, you may lose some taste, which is not ideal for those who like exploring new flavors.
Electronic dabs, or e-rigs, are portable, battery-operated rigs that offer superior temperature control. These rigs can be taken apart quickly for cleaning or packing, making them among the most convenient pieces on the market today.
Because of their electronic capabilities, e-rigs are perfect for those who want something more flavorful than dab pens with a quick and easy heat up and ultimate temperature control.
The downside: E-rigs can be a challenge to clean, and you’ll also have to change the batteries every so often.
Now that you know the types of dab rigs you can choose from, how do you know where to go next?
For many, picking a dab rig is like adding to a proud collection. That’s why choosing the proper dab rig is an important decision—and it all comes down to assessing your smoking habits, size preference, and style, and aesthetic.
First thing’s first: Ask yourself how often you’ll use the dab rig.
Are you a frequent user? Or do you use it more occasionally?
Depending on your answer, you’ll want to choose a rig that fits your lifestyle. In other words, don’t choose a big custom rig if you won’t use it every day. Pieces like this are expensive and take a long time to make, so you want to be sure that you’ll get your money’s worth. If you don’t plan to use your rig that often, then a mini rig is a great place to start.
On the other hand, if you are a frequent smoker, then think about what qualities are important to you. Taste, smoothness, and convenience are significant influencing factors, which means you can choose from glass, silicone, or e-rigs to meet your needs.
Size is an important factor when shopping for your rig. So, how tall should a dab rig be?
Sometimes, bigger isn’t always better. Mini dab rigs are small and convenient, meaning they’re easy to store away. Plus, mini rigs also have a better-concentrated effect, making for a more quality smoking experience every time.
The great thing about dab rigs is that aesthetics is an important point in every model. As soon as you walk into a smoke shop, you’ll notice a cornucopia of different sizes, shapes, colors, and intricate glasswork designs. But you can make your decision with ease if you stick to choosing a piece that meets your lifestyle and size needs—while also reflecting your personal style.
Some dab rigs are easier to accessorize than others. For example, glass rigs can be mixed and matched with tons of accessories, while silicone pieces are less versatile. However, silicone pieces also come in different colors and textures, which also offers tons of personality.
Recycler rigs are also popular because of how the smoke looks as it passes through the inner glasswork. For many, that experience alone is worth the extra cost in appearance and function.
Buying the right dab rig is the most critical aspect of your smoking experience, which is why it’s essential that you choose what works best for you. Be sure to consider important factors, like:
From there, you can choose from glass rigs, mini rigs, silicone rigs, recycler rigs, and e-rigs. But if you still don’t know where to start, then maybe you could consider the perfect dab rig starter pack: The mini dab rig bundle kit.
This kit allows you to create your own bundle pack where you can choose your mini dab rig, your bucket size, and your carb cap—all of which guarantee quality from one of America’s highest-rated glassware manufacturers, MJ Arsenal.
But it’s also important to remember that shape has a lot to do with the type of experience you’ll have when dabbing. A good rule of thumb is to remember that less air means more flavor, which is why choosing the right kind is an essential part of your smoking experience.
If you don’t know where to start, this guide will help you understand exactly how dab rigs came to be. Use this overview to learn about some of the most popular shaped rigs today, like the recycler rig, fab egg rig, and ball rig.
Using a dab rig (also known as an oil rig) is one of the most well-known ways to vaporize herb concentrates. However, you might be surprised to learn that it only came to light in recent years. Concentrated dabs first became popular in the 1970s—but then they disappeared for several decades. It was only in the early 2000s that they made their first comeback.
Dab concentrate is a highly potent substance that is thick and sticky, similar to honey or butter. By extracting the substance, smoking enthusiasts found that it’s easier to achieve a better and more potent experience if they vaporized the concentrate directly instead of smoking.
This extracting process led to the invention of the early prototype of today’s dab rigs. It made vaporizing the buttery concentrate easier, which, in turn, promised a more potent and flavorful taste. Fast forward to today, and you’ll see dab rigs being sold in any glass shop.
Dab rigs work to vaporize the sticky concentrate—also known as dabs or wax—so that the user can control how much they smoke with a better flavor and overall potency. For that reason, many users prefer using dab rigs over traditional bowls or bongs, which use flower with less potent effects.
However, using the proper dab rig is also essential to the experience. Because the size and shape impact the quality and flavor, it’s necessary to know what size and shape you should use before making any investments.
Because the goal is to get the best flavor possible, size and shape play essential roles in dab rigs work. For example, a smaller dab rig means less water, which means a richer flavor. For those who prefer extracting the most taste possible, a smaller dab rig is the way to go.
But aside from size, the shape can also play an important role in how your experience is. The form of your dab rig can impact the taste and flavor and how you receive the quality of the concentration. So before you begin shopping, take some time to look at some of the most common dab rig shapes to find which one is best for you.
A recycler rig is a unique shape that functions through an innovative process of the two-chamber system. The two-chamber system allows for a cleaner and more rich experience because it “recycles” the water through a loop. A great example of a recycler rig is the Claude Mini Dab Rig.
Here’s how it works:
Because the smoke is consistently traveling with the water, hits are cooled down a lot faster. The process allows the user to vaporize more significant amounts of concentrate in one sitting. Plus, since there is less air space, the smoke won’t get stale, and the taste will be more flavorful and apparent.
Fab egg rigs are among the most popular dab rigs on the market. Also known as a Faberge egg rig, this unique shape gets its name from the limited series of jewel-encrusted eggs made by Russian jeweler, House of Fabergé.
These dab rigs are easily recognizable by their thick base and circular design. Depending on the size, these rigs can get elaborate, so they can cost upwards of $1,000. However, there are plenty of less expensive yet quality fab egg rigs, like the Infinity Mini Rig.
Here’s how it works: Like a recycler rig, fab egg rigs function to recycle your water. The difference lies in the fact that fab eggs have spherical chambers with hollow centers. This design allows the water to go through an internal chamber and then back into the percolation chamber.
If you watch as it’s in action, you’ll see that the water and vapor move through two layers of glass instead of cutting through the middle section, which offers limitless filtration to the user.
Fab egg rigs are a perfect combination of form and function without compromise. The circular shape in fab egg rigs is beautiful and aesthetically pleasing, but the compact body shape helps create drag-free smoke, which promises better potency and flavor.
Ball rigs are quickly emerging as a must-have item on people’s lists because of the unique ball design. The center ball can vary in size depending on the rig’s size and shape, but its purpose is to keep the water where it should be and keep hot vapors at bay so that they don’t reach the user’s mouth.
Here’s how it works:
Although having a collection of differently shaped rigs is aesthetically satisfying, there’s also a good purpose behind investing in different shapes. Depending on the types you get, you could have an entirely different experience in potency and flavor capacity. Additionally, the shape can offer a more comfortable hit with rigs that filter vapor and water cleanly.
Whether you’re looking for a recycler, a fab egg, or a ball rig, you can’t go wrong with opting for their mini versions. Mini dab rigs are more compact—and less air means more flavor.
